Default Lightweight 15" wheels?

Does anyone know of really lightweight wheels other than the TE37 that are available in 7 inch width? It seems like everyone is only making theirs in 6.5.

That's right... I forgot about the SSR Competitions. Thanks for reminding me... I think those will be one of my first choices.

Better fit for 225 rubber.

SSRs in 15x7.5. I don't think there is a better wheel for our car in any size at any price. I know someone who used to race Civics years ago and he did some testing with different wheel sizes. He ended up running 185 width tires on 8" rims. I think tire width was controlled.

It may be specific to the tires and car he was running with, but I think for the most part wheel width is MUCH more important than wheel weight, and the wider the better. That's why I never understood why people like Spoons. They might be okay with the stock tire size, but they pinch way too much when you move up a size or three.

Wow... 185 on 8"? That's too wide a rim for that tire, maybe even to the extent of causing trouble when cornering hard. R's run with 195 on 6.5"... *" is WIDE!

Well, they work fine for 205 which is what most people are using even in race compound size. I just want to try 225 and see how much more grip I can get and maybe 6.5 just won't do. I just don't want the combo to be a dangerous one.

I don't think you could end up with a dangerous combo. Maybe the 185 on an 8" is a little extreme, but 7.5" is 191mm. So even if you used a 195 width tire with a 7.5" rim you'd be square. I don't believe there is any problem with using a wider rim. I think almost everybody with an EG or a DC running Solo I has moved up to using 225s. I wouldn't even bother going back to 205s, unless you're really worried about bending the lip on the rear.

Here's a pic of when I was using 205s on a 7" rim:

It looked roughly square. Here are the same wheels with 225s:

I also used those wheels through four winters with 195s. Aside from a little extra dartiness which can mostly be attributed to the 38 offset they worked perfect. In fact I won my class at a regional Solo II with those tires! Hakkapelliittaaas rock!

Really there's no point to not going with a 225 tire, especially since the Kumho 225/45s are coming out. With the 7.5" SSRs you'd have the ultimate wheel/tire combination you can possibly fit on your car!

Hey I think my ce28's are a little lighter than 9.2lbs. I'm thinking about a lb less. 8-8.2
