Okay is any 88-90 Prelude and Si? Im about to buy this prelude off this guy and its either an 88 or 89 and I was looking to see what kind of stock engine they have and all I see is Si and I dont know if it is Si hence the question. Any help would be appreciated thanks. Also this dude says hes had it up to 180 mph before now is that possible with a stock lude or does he have to have some performance mods on it?

 

in that model...i think he's full of sh*t IMO if he got it up to 180 mph...Kick him in the ***** and call it a day...it would have to be turboed and be using racing gas and it still may not get up to 180...

I have a 5th gen and i only got it up to 130 stock and no mods...now compare that engine with the 5th gen engine...

dont get me wrong...that model is a sweet lude with the flip lights and stuff, but 180...dont bet your ***** on it...

I very much doubt the stock one is capable of 180mph and if it is geared for that then it'd need a VERY LONG road! lol

..Its probly not geared for that as a top speed so Ask him if he has done any mods to it; The only way you change the top speed is gearing, and you will always compromise on acceleration if your modding the G-Box for top speed and vise versa for acceleration.

Unless this thing has some serious power and mods going on then you'd better take him some Bog Roll and tell him to wipe the sh*t from his mouth!

Can't do it anymore. They stopped making boost fluid that would work without a turbo.

Yeah your only problem is that you could have 2000hp and still only go 130-140mph. Its all in your gearing. The transmission will only let you go so fast.

I wish you could just get a turbo and race gas and go 180. There is alot more than just hp for that.

Oh yeah and are you sure he wasnt meaning 180 kph

for your question in 88-90 preludes they had S and Si. Smodel had a 2,0 carb. engine 125horse and the Si had a fuel injected 2.0 -135horse 90-91 preludes had a 2.1 injected engine that was 140 hp i think?

180mph? no way... 140 tops i'd say. he would have been beyond redline andfuel cutoff.. 180km/h.

stay away from the 2.1 90-91, they are notorious for burnin lots of oil
the 88-89 4ws with 2.1 fully loaded is best bet... but you dont get the better looking taillights

does the speedo go that high or was it him. 5th gen here top speed with intake 150. before mods
