Default Does anybody know what kind of lsd comes in a jdm ys1 tranny?

the reason i am asking is because I want to know if it is safe for me to us GM syncromesh with added friciton protection in my ys1 jdm transmission. I don't know what type of lsd comes stock in a jdm ys1 transmission.

I have syncromesh w/fm in my tranny (y1 w/lsd (cable) ) and it loves it. One of the best fluids Ive EVER used.

With the LSD, Synchromesh Friction Modified will be exactly what you want.

non itr/ctr tranny w/ optional lsd uses viscous type lsd..(non helical/gear/torsen)
viscous uses a special kind of fluid instead of gears to transfer torque. The main problem w/ viscous type lsd is that w/ excessive usage, it heats up too much, rendering it non-effective.

interesting, so your saying that an optoinal lsd that came in a ys1 jdm tranny would be viscous and not helical or "gear driven." So should i not use gm syncromesh?

you can use gm's synchromesh if you want to but the one with friction modified will wear out your synchros at the expense of no grinding.

search for gm synchromesh and you'll see what i mean.

hrmmm... because my syncros are already pretty shitty as is. would you recomend using the gm with no friction additive?

yeah i guess you can try that. as long as it didn't have the friciton modified so it won't mest up your synchros evenmore.

try redline/honda mtf/ neo synthetic.
some works for some trannies; some don't.

Gm synchromesh friction modified is the only one i heard of.

It's the whole friction additives.(any kind of friction lubs will reduce the synchros's lives.

adding more (friciton) will force the synchros to mesh in while grinds actually let the synchros mesh themselves better instread of w/ the frinciton modified which is forcing the synchros to mesh.
