GS-R has a pretty high compression engine. It needs high octane gas. A tank or two isn't gonna hurt it or anything but the knock sensor is gonna have to retard the timing so you'll lose a bit of power and over time it would be bad for the engine.
Use premium.

Now I'm talking out my rear here, but after that tank you may want to reset your ECU incase it actually retarded your timing to prevent pinging..
<----- Who has done this when he swapped the GS-R engine in. "Oops! It's still full of LS gas (87 octane)!"

oh **** I didn't even know that
i swapped a b18c in my ls about 3000 miles ago and been puttin in 89. Most definitely after this tank put in 91, but you think I did any damage with my engine?

It won't hurt anything really. My buddy's dad bought a '95 GSR with 120k miles from the original owner. The owner only used regular gas. They weren't very hard on the car, I'm sure that helped not hurt anything. When he bought it he threw 93 (haha CA
) octane in and reset the ECU and it ran great.

ooh ooh i get to say it first.
SEARCH.
If you search under "reset ecu" u'll get like 100 hits, i swear.
anyways, u can reset the ecu by the disconnect-the-battery method or the mess-with-the-fuses method. search, and take your pick.
