Default DIY Question?!?!

Ok i was a moron and bought some of those "oh so famous projectors" you konw the ones that dont aim correctly or anything like that. Well my question is do you think I could mod those lights to fit the stock head light bulbs? i think this would give a greater output from the lights. I think it would just take a dremmel tool and a lot of time shaving it but what do you guys think? The reason i havent gone back to stock is because i like the looks of these lights on my car.

Well, it can be done, but what makes you think that it would improve the light output if it's already poor? If you are going to take the time to retrofit you might as well retrofit HID projectors (D2S) into the housing. It has been done to accords and many other housings. Check out http://www.hidforum.com and search under "retrofit." Hope it helps.

what do you mean? you want to put a 9006 bulb into a h3 or h4 socket??? well i doubt youll want to do it, a 9006 is bigger and longer, which imo will almost touch the projector or is touching it, and fake projectors cant stand heat much so i think itll shatter the projector honestly thinking...

It will probably not touch the lens, but the question is if he could even fit the bulb through the hole.

oh if its like that, then i doubt it, the thing that give it the good output is the projector, real projectors (bi-xenons) perfect beam pattern and cutoff... cost about 250 on ebay with hid's pretty cheap since those projection headlights alone already cost like 100-160$'s...

but if he was planning to put 9006's in the h1/h3 housing, dont do it dude, its like a iced bottle being thrown into hot water, when ur car sits over night outside it gets pretty damn cold especially winter... once those headlights come on the heats gonna pop those projectors and your gonna kick yourself in the *** ;\

What is it that makes the projectors so louzy in terms of light output. Mine were fine untill my dad backed into front bumper and he must of knocked something loose or moved something. But now it points directly down on one side...and it maybe projects about 1 car length which isnt enough for where i live. I know i should probably search and i probably will after i post this but what will an HID set up cost me?? is there a DIY way thats a little bit cheaper?? I never really thought about the heat output of the lights so its a good thing i asked first!!! Keep up the good work guys!!

the thing that makes it lousy is the projector itself, the way its made and etc etc, you know how bmw's and audis got that hint of different colors at different angles? thats made by the projector glass but those accord ones dont come close to the quality of those.. umm if you want the same quality you can check ebay and type in "Bixenon, or bi xenon" and they sell a whole set of projectors + HID setup for fraction of the price a kit is priced... to retrofit, you need to open up your stock housing or your projector headlight housing and fit the projector in it, bolt it up and youre set, minor cutting is needed so make sure you have access to a dremel, otherwise everything is pretty easy. if you do a search of "retrofit" on H-t ive seen alot of civics with it done and they posted the pics of comparisons of aftermarket projector headlights with the retrofit, and youll see the difference, hope this helps.

I'm getting ready to do a retrofit into aftermarket projector housings for my 2000 Accord. I got OEM BMW ballasts, bulbs and bi xenon projectors off ebay for around 360 shipped. I found these sites to very informative.

I will take pics as I go along. I'll try to post them after I'm done.
