Default its time

there comes a time in peoples lives when you need to move on, and sadly, i think it has..or maybe comming soon. as much as i enjoyed it and want to continue and hit up the tracks.. i have missed a lot of things.

i miss being able to take my girlfriend out in my car without her feeling uncomfortable because of my suspension.. i miss being able to go to a movie with her or my friends because i'm too scared of it getting stolen. i missed out on a lot of my life because i devoted a lot of my time to my car.

i think its time for me to move onto true priorities. i think the people in my life shouldn't come second to my hobby.. and it should definately not hurt them. and i think that its time to invest into a house, tools for my future, and into a deserving girlfriend.. or whatever may come of this situation. and at the moment, i have lost the passion for my car.

with that said (sorry its so long).. i am planning (keyword: planning. you guys know that i change my mind an infinite amount of times) to part out my car from the ground up. and no, this is not another "haha jk, i'm really going to rebuild it from the ground up" sort of thing like i did last time. but before i set this word in stone, i am going to give Sunshine one last "hoo-rah" and then let it be.

so if anyone is interested in any of the parts on my car.. save up incase, and wait until i finalize things.

the parts i am planning to sell include:

- complete motor
- complete obd1 conversion + p28 + hondata s200
- JDM ITR Recaros in Yellow
- Spoon Cluster
- complete 5 lug conversion
- anything from the exterior
- Cusco rollcage
- Carbing front and rear strut bars, J's pillar bar
- complete suspension (coilovers, sway bar, lca)
- basically ANYTHING.

but just keep in mind that anything you want to buy, i will probably need the stock part back.. motor, cluster, 4 lug, etc. because i will eventually sell the shell or drive a yellow HB around with a 4" lift.

again, no offers until i finalize things.

(note: Bryant told me that the first paragraph sounded a lot like someones post here on H-T.. lol, total coincidence. VERY wierd)

Tom, please excuse this post. its not meant to be a classified post.

hard to make that decision huh ? ive been debating giving up both of my projects for a few weeks now . i have so much invested in both projects that im sure i would lose atleast 40% of what i paid for the parts , which would be a lot of $$$ .

best of luck with whatever you decide to do

because getting rid of it would enable me to start off on a house, tools for my work (mechanic), my girlfriend (if we are able to work things out).

and i took pride in having this car as my only car..my daily beater.. weekend warrior.. california trip rental car.. all in one. getting a beater would do nothing except deprive a car like that of what it deserves; to be driven.

I have to tell you that I regret getting rid of my Civic which could be built and boosted right now. The Honda world is hard to escape from, I plan on building another Honda when I get out of school after I buy a Cobra ( ) but I must say I will always miss my Civic. Make sure you are really ready to get out because it will cost you a lot to get back in. Good Luck either way.

Im not hating on your ideas or anything. But your girlfriend and friends should understand your hobbies and not hate on them. They should support your decisions and interests, no matter what they are.

In the long run, parting out your car and selling it all - your not gonna get the money you put into it. And even then, its not really worth *that* much money. Its not like your talking about a ferrari. Selling a honda isnt gonna get you a down payment on a house or anything. Unless you just want to get outa the game all together then you can stop reading this post.

If i were you, id buy a nice car cover and park your "weekend play toy" in the garage. Then either buy a beater or a new nice car and drive that and enjoy the freedom it gives. Then you can have your hobby on the weekends.

Who said you cant have your cake and eat it to?

liam

i'd reccommend selling the whole car as packaged deal... im sure there are ppl out there (rich spoiled kids, funded by their parents) that would shell out the $$ for a nice ride....

i totally feel you about getting out of the sport compact game. as soon as im done with school, im gonna sell the hatch and get a 330ix. i tired of loud exhausts, bumpy-*** ride, and peaky honda motors. i just need a good, all-around ride

Can't you just put any car projects on hold while you buy a house (like I did). Then get yourself a beater to drive around...OR SOMETHING, MAN! I'm sorry you have to be doing this. Make sure you think long and hard, although I'm sure you already have. If it must be, it must be.

I hear what you are saying as to why you are getting out, but I still think you need to think it out a little better....

Here's my situation....
My wife has hated my del sol since I first lowered it, even more the faster it goes, she is used to being in her Jeep (first she had a cherokee sport now she drives a grand cherokee).... she sees my car as a waste of money, however she knows I dig it, and therefore won't make me get rid of it.....I now have a baby on the way, she due on June 1st, which isn't too far away, del sols and babies don't match, it's going to be a long time before my daughter will ever be able to ride in my car, if I have it that long..... my wife already rides in it as little as possible, but

When I drive it I have a blast and it's not going anywhere, granted I don't drive it as much as I would like, but when I'm in a bad mood I can hop in my Honda and hit hte road, it just sits in my garage waiting for me,

You just need to find a better excuse..... a lot of men have a car in their garage that is kept for driving fun, and one that is meant for work.....

daily drivers are cool and all, but whats wrong with owning a car just for the fun of it, and who cares if you don't drive it everyday

i'll try my best to reply in a general way to answer most of the questions in this thread.

i know it seems like i'm giving up my car just for a girl. it is much much much more complicated than that, i just dont feel like H-T has to hear it. my giflriend isn't asking me to get rid of my car.. she loves it as much as i do. but i need to do this for myself, i need to prepare for my future ASAP because within the next month is what determines a huge factor in the outcome of my future.

and i know its not a ferrari, and i know its not worth much compared to a down payment on a house..but its a rapid start.

and i know i'll regret parting it out and/or selling it.. but i also know i'll regret it even more to lose a girlfriend of 3 and a half years that i planned to spend the rest of my life with.

a car is replaceable.. she is not. it's simple as that. and i will do anything and everything i can to keep her, because in the end, i would just be looking at my car in a meaningless way.
