Default Blue dash and gauge lights?

I've seen a bunch of write-ups for 4th gens, does anybody have a detailed write-up on how to change the dash lighting (HVAC controls and buttons) and gauge lights (e-brake, oil, etc, as well as the overhead light on the speedo and tach) for the 5th gens? I saw a site that we using blue LED's which would be a good idea, but there's no description on what to do or how to install.

i never done it before, but i have removed my speedo when it gave way on me, and the thing that seem to be making it green is the speedo itself not the bulbs behind it its like a clear film thats green... thats why some people buy those indiglos or 'reverse" ones cause they have a different color to it... but if you wanna do it yourself, try going to those audio shops with dj equiment and purchasing those colored clear films for the disco lights and cutting them out and glue it onto the gauges and other things. but ebrake ,oil im not sure about those...

i saw a write-up for this, but i dont remember who wrote it or where i saw it... but basically you can take the bulbs out that light up the warning lights and all and basically dip the bulb into some colored glass stain and that should do the trick. once if you want it light, twice a lil darker three times even darker, and so on. that should do the trick. not to mention i think you MIGHT have to buy new bulbs if they are already colored. good luck man, hope this helps.

that's where i saw the really nice dash lighting on that 4th gen, i want my gauges and controls to light up blue like that too, but his write up is for 4th gens. I have no idea how to get my gauge cluster out or what works/won't work on the 5th gen

Should be the same concept. Worse case you can always take out your gauge cluster and replace the clear bulbs w/blue beanies (once you take it out you will know what I am talking about) and replace with red/blue whatever you like. As far as the climate controls the only way I see it being done is via LED install, referring to thread and the volts/resistance etc should be about the same from the 4th gen to 5th gen

ugh, i'm no electrician i have no experience with that kinda stuff, maybe i should just leave it be before i short out my entire dash and have NO lights Youd have to solder some stuff to get the LED's to work woudn't you?

Here is the soldering section...what you could do is go to a junkyard or buy a spare cluster or climate control and just fawk with it, take pics and make your own damn write up .

http://m1xe.adminity.net:9996/....html

For the cluster: http://m1xe.adminity.net:9996/diyleds/index.html
Changing LEDS in cluster: http://m1xe.adminity.net:9996/diyleds/index2.html

I would think since the clusters use the same bulbs you could use the same led's and principle but I would scope a second cluster or climate control for the "just in case" you mess up
