Default B18C5 into a EG Hatch.

lets say i wanted to drop a itr engine into a hatch, rip out some of the interior and toss on some slipstreams for a reliable daily driver. sounds good to me, would move it around somewhere in the 14's from what i've heard.

i've been trying to figure out the total expenses of doing this... i searched and came across this thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=540308

now here is where i am lost:
is the swap a direct plug and play like B18C5-EH2 said???
or will i have a wiring nightmare on my hands?
if i get a hatch that didn't have a vtec engine, will i need to add anything?
what mounts will i need in order to drop it into the hatch?
approx. what will it cost to get it all in, said and done?

i tried searching, but came up with TONS of pages and couldn't find my answers.

thanks to anyone who will take the time to give me a serious answer.

B18C5-EH2's engine...

the swap is as easy as he said... Tom(B18C5-EH2) is pretty in depth with his replies and likely has covered every base(I only skimmed the linked thread)

edit: you need a rear mount from a 94-01 teg or 99-00 Si I belive..(can't remember exactly so do not take this as fact). that should be it for mounts.

OBD2--->OBD1 Jumper.
Get all the mounts and mix/match them until it fits
run 7 (pretty sure) wires if it has no VTEC wiring provisions
Change the fuel pump to an ITR
Buy some better brakes

Jump in and go.

(Simplified, but it goes like that.)

let me just say this

if 18c5-eh2 said pretty much anything honda related, i would bet on it.

but to be fair, it is just a b-series into a car that was meant to have a b-series in it anyway..... hope that makes sense

if your worried about wireing up the vtec, just a get a 92 hatch, pre-wired for vtec.
isnt honda grand...

go back and read the posts b1c5-eh2 made about his swap. ANY question related to that swap is covered in his posts.

all 92's are prewired.

92-95 Si's and Vx's are both wired.

just get the complete itr swap
get a obd1 p28 ecu and send it to kenji and have him chip the ecu for you. just tell him what motor your going to run and he'll know what to do.
you can wire up the vtec yourself if your car isn't already wired up. do some searching and you'll find out how to wire it up. i'm sure people will also help you on the board and how to wire it up or point you to the right direction on where to find that info.

my friend has an itr swap in his hatch with full interior. 14 flat is what he is running. he is still using his stock dx fuel pump too.

good luck

if you use the rechipped p28 ecu, you wont need a harness. If you get a usdm b18c5, use the stock wiring harness, it plugs right into the civic shock tower harness. If you get a jdm motor, you'll have to get a 92-95 civic si/ex engine harness, or a 94-01 integra gsr/type r harness. You can use all of the integra upper mounts and lower torque mount brackets, but you have to use the civic lower torque mount unless you want to modify your frame rails. You'll also need the type r/b16/ls throttle cable. If you are getting the motor from a reputable place like http://www.hmotorsonline.com, http://www.importautosalvage.com, or http://www.passwordjdm.com , they should send you just about everything you will need.

yeah...no conversion harness will be needed. just get the obd1 p28 ecu and have it chipped.

if you get the complete swap from hmotorsonline....they will give you the mounts with the swap.

OBD-II + OBD I wire harness + OBD I ECU = goodness

its not the motor that is dependant it is the wiring

posts like this are a waste of time. wtf does = goodness mean.

if you are going to take the time to post, at least explain why its "goodness"

Well I hate to advertise something I have for sale here but I think it fits the need.

I have 2 ITR JDM engines ready to go. Dynoed the car a couple weeks ago...well heck heres a scan of the chart.

Pic of the Engine.

The reason why I bring up this swap is its a complete plug and play swap. Yes it is jdm...but you get all my wiring, dont need any of it for my upcoming swap. You get a Kenji chipped ecu as well. I Probably dont even need the intake anymore.

BTW the wiring harness was professionally done by the lead mechanic here at our local Honda Dealership. Hell he pretty much did the entire swap with me pitching in on the all the aspects of the swap.

All the mounts will still be on the engine, the throttle bracket...again made by my guy at Honda. In addition it of course has a fresh Timing belt, water pump, itr shifter, lsd trans, and of course tuned and valve adjusted through...Honda.

$4500.00 plus shipping.

I hope you all see this as more than just a shameless plug...

Get a hold of kenji on here and have him chip a p28 ecu for u,tell him you want a usdm itr spec.
When you get the motor make sure the wireharness is uncut,if its cut, then just get a usdm gsr or itr harness.
Use the rear bracket from the integra motor and the civic rubber for the back mount.
Use both the integra rubber mounts for both the passenger and driver side upper mounts.
And use the integra lower brackets with the civic rubber mounts for both the mounts down in the fender wells.
Also the stock civic fuel pump will be just fine for the integra motor.
