my friend has an integra ls with about 172k miles on it. whenever he turns on the car, after the car warms up, i hear a very distant sounding *knocking* sound. he hasnt has his car serviced EVER and im wondering if he could just do a vlave adjustment or something. would getting his car serviced and cleaning his ls head make his car quieter? and im also getting him to try *seafoam*

since it hasn't been serviced, it's probably begging for a valve adjustment. that'd be the first thing I check

 

how much is a valve adjustment? should he just buy a new ls head wit EVERYTHING he needs for about 200 bucks? or tell him to save up a couple more hundred dollars and get a vtec head?

 

valve adjustment costs around 60 dollars around here.
if only his valves need to be adjusted, there's no point in getting a new head. and does he want VTEC?

 

vtec wold b nice for him, but then, i think its waaay over his budget. he has around 350 i think? if you can find someone who would b willing to sell a vtec head off a b16 or a b18 for 350 or a little more. let me know

also, how much is it to get ur car serviced?

and if you are paying $200 for a non vtec head you overpayed.

 

where do i get a valve adjustment? does that have to be done at da dealer? for one thing i hate going to the dealer because my car is lowered at they always give me hell about it. anyway i can do it myself? or should i jus go to the dealer? how much it cost? Another thing how do i know if i need a valve adjustment, bought the car wid 45,xxx miles not sure if has ever been done....thanks
