brand new nissan sentra se-r spec v or used type r????
Please answer this question for me withought a biased opinion, I LOVE itr's but only have enouph money to buy a used one with around 40 000 km's on it, or for the same money i can buy a brand new se-r spec v.
It's always nice to have a new car. I love the smell of it, and everything on their is clean, and you get to break it in the way you want to. But a Nissan SE-R Spec V, is not really that impressive. The ITR handles like a dream, and is awesome. The ITR is much faster, and more of an attention getter. So if I were you, I would get my hands on an ITR as soon as possible. Not unless you can save up some more money, and pick up an new WRX. That will probably be the only car under 27 grand, that I will choose over the ITR.

I've driven the WRX, and the ITR (ofcourse). The Sentra Spec V, I have yet to drive, because I don't know where I can find one to drive. I'm basing my opinions off readings. duduvr6, why don't you go test drive all the cars first, and buy which ever one you think is best.
I would definitely go for the ITR, not that i am baised but because the car is a mad handler and a blast to drive...plus a recent magazine(forgot which one) tested like 5 cars and the Mazda MP3 beat the V spec, it came in fourth I think. Again go for the R.

Te magazine is Car and Driver.. read it.. which kind of disappointed that Sentra Spec V only rank fourth under Mazda, Jeta, WRX...

Oh yes, they also described the interior as having "carnival upholestry". I have to agree with that, too much color. Where's Martha Stewart when we need her.
Since you always loved the ITR, buy one of those first. The Sentra SE-R V-spec will be around for years. And if you for some strange and unknown reason don't like the R, you'd be taking less of a hit in terms of depreciation if you sell it.
Why are you asking this question on a type R forum???
You know what answers you are going to get.

If you are into Drag racing and turbo, Nitro stuff and wanna be one of the cars line up on the streets of the *** and Fartish part 2, buy Sentra and leave the ITR alone.

My opinion is that even though it might be a new car, at the end of the day... you're still driving a Sentra. And a Sentra that once you have it, you'll have to tell yourself "this could have been a type R." With a used R, you will not only get respect from many car enthusiasts for the performance, handling and style, but the cars hold up just as well as any other car out there... so getting one with 40k miles won't be that bad. And besides, the white one's look cool, so I say go for the used R.
Pro's and Cons of both cars:
Used '97-'00 Integra Type R Pro's: Rare, exclusive, holds value.
World reknowned performance.
Tons of aftermarket support.
Excellent used car value.
Cons: High probability of theft.
Possible reliability issues/warranty denial.

'02 Sentra SE-R Spec V Pro's: Brand spankin new car!
Excellent new car value.
Less attention from cops/crooks
Bulletproof Nissan drivetrain.
Lots of accessories for under $20k (17's, Fosgate stereo, helical LSD, 6 spd, etc).
Cons: Aftermarket is still green.
Hefty curb weight (2807 dry).
Performance data not yet fully established.

And when all is said and done, the Type R is still just Integra..

Exactly.. both the Sentra and Integra are economy cars, so saying that the "sentra will still be a sentra, while the R is a R" is not a good rationale for buying one car over the other..
