Hey i found a really clean automatic JDM h22a without tranny, ecu or harness for $900. Can anyone confirm that it has the same HP and torque as a JDM 5-spd? Ive heard that it has less agressive cams/ or pistons. thanks

 

The auto H22 has 180hp....compared to the 200 the 5spd came with.

I don't think so. According to honda's factbook the auto was rated at 200ps jut like the 5-speed http://www.honda.co.jp/factboo....html

However it is a fact the TB has a smaller diameter and the ecu is likely tuned differently.

Hmmmm, you could be right. I was told to watch out for H22's that were sold as longblocks only because most likely they came from an auto tranny swap and that they have less HP than the ones that came with 5spd. Just like the RX-8.

I don't have any solid evidence to post....so I am posting based on my personal experience when i was shopping for H22 swaps.

 

i believe they have different cams too for a better low end..

 

well my h22a came out of an auto JDM prelude and I ran a 14.5@98mph with I/E. I guess that's slow compared to other preludes.

 

i don't believe anythig is different except the throttle body.

Yeah it looks like they are both the same HP and torque from the honda of japan website. Im going to be putting my 5spd tranny, throttle body and anything else on it that is differant from my blown h22a 5spd. I think it is sorta of an old wives tale that the auto has less hp. Actually it probaly does with that smaller throttle body but converting it all to 5spd specs it should be good.

 

I compared TB with my old h23a1 and they were exactly the same size. not sure if the USDM h22a is bigger though.
