Installing My CAI Intake -- Searched
Hey guys, Im a big newbie (obviously since im asking how to install an intake) but we all got to start somewhere. Anyways I searched in archived content for "installing intake" and I didn't get much, and my question wasn't really answered. Im kind of worried about installing my intake so as much info would be awesome. Does anyone have pics of where the filter goes, near the wheel well, cause the top part is kinda open and broad but the bottom part is iffy, I can see where the bolts are and etc. Would I have to take off the giant plastic scratch plate to install? Any tips for installing it, and what to do before/during/after installing it would be great. Thanks again
The intake is a AEM CAI (regular not v2)

I have a 90-93 teg and Im sure the install is fairly the same.
On my car you had to take the front bumper off to put the air filter on. So you might have to do the same (again; i have a g2 not a g3 so im not sure what youll have to do this is just an idea) take out the stock airbox and plastic stuff. (SAVE THIS ****; you might want it later!) line up the tube(s) install the hose clamps if its more the one peice. Put your filter on. Use the brackets that came with it to bolt it down somewhere in the engine bay. Start your car and check for leaks around the hose clamps and filter; if every things seems peachy put your bumper back on and have some FUN!

did you buy this intake from a shop? if so they should install it for you i bought mines and they installed it free and it took them like 10minutes
LoL, I remember having quite a bit of trouble when I put my intake in. If it's an AEM CAI or similarly shaped thing, you don't need to take off the bumper. You do need to remove the fender lining though, it's that plastic stuff that guards the inner fender. It's held up by a bunch of plastic push-screw things and some screws. Once you take that off, you'll be able to see everything that needs to be removed. It's a bunch of plastic pieces that you might have to jimmy out, but they'll come out after un-doing all the necessary bolts. Good luck with the install!
PS, be sure you put the fender lining back in properly. I messed up the first time, and it fell out and got chewed up on the freeway.

If you bought it new, it should come with instructions.
a suggestion on searching... search for terms like "install" rather than installing and learn to use wildcards.
