d16z6 into a crx si

If I put a d16z6 into a 1 89 crx si running the z6 ecu will it automatically allow vtec to engage or do I need to run it off another source ie. rpm switch? Also what kinda times do you guys in your crxes run with z6's equipped with I/H/E?
I think this post topic has more threads on it then any other topic on H-T. Do it right. Run it off of the correct ecu.
Plug in this Pick me pick me, extend the wires that are off of my harness, and repin the distributor. Super simple

The motor comes with the correct ecu thats why I asked

i would def. run the P28 ecu. Shawn at [url]http://Devltuning.com[url/] makes convestion harnesses. just contact him and ask about them. he can also get your ecu chipped. which helps when running after market part to get the most out of the motor.
Another option is to get a VAFC and use that to control your vtec. but it's not the same as an ecu controling it.

You will have to convert to OBD-1 to use the P28 ECU.
Once you have converted to OBD-1 and VTEC is wired up, your VTEC will work just fine with the P28.
Search in this forum for information on OBD conversions and SOHC VTEC or D16Z6 engines.

i second that
works great until u get really in deep into tunning turbo or any other situation that needs a lot of tunning

its true though. obd1 conversions are only really needed when using ECU's from the stock obd1 cars or engine management. which should only be used for "serious/hardcore tuning" . actually the apexi vafc2 is a really good tool for tuning, obviously stand alone is better but not needed unless you're going all out

of you can always get a zdyne if you really get deep into tuning and dont want to convert ...
