Ef is a body code man,
you got EF: dx, si, cx.
your d16a6 engine will fit in there like a glove, the only exception is transmisison wise, the 88 got a spline less than all his common brother, you can do a wiring conversion, it's easy, you will however need the d16a6 ECU in there.
try searching : wiring convertion or Wiring in the EF section you'll come up with plenty of result for your convertion.
see ya
good luck

very true. 5th gear at like 90-95mph is only revvin' like 3k rpms in my friends HF.
the tranny will bolt up, but it would be a VERY good investment if you could get an SI tranny to go along with that motor. even a DX one will be a lot better than the HF. hope that helps a little!
