For those who have these tires, how is it driving on the freeway. I mean, how is the noise and ride quality. I currently have some 205/40/16 khumo 711's and I hate the road noise/harsh ride, I'm thinking of getting the 215/45/16 azenis' but I'm affraid that the harsh ride and noise will still be there.

Can anyone help me out?

 

They are very sticky street tires. Since they are very 'soft' they will be quite. I only hear good reviews from them.

 

if u have 205/40, the 215/45 is a much bigger side wall, the overall diameter will be much larger, also may not fit in ur fenders

 

I can adjust the ride height, so I'm not too worried that they wont fit under the fenders, but i am wondering about rubbing on full lock.

Since the azenis have a stiff sidewall wont they essentially be the same as having a lowprofile tire, hence the harsh/noisy ride?

 

Azenis are about as loud as Kumho 711s. They're both pretty loud tires.

Azenis will also ride about as harsh even though they have a taller profile, because their sidewalls are stiffer.

 

i have the 15s and they ride fine to me. and i dont notice any road noise. not above the xhaust sound anyway.

 

yes but your tires are 15inch and have a bigger sidewall, i am contemplating on buying the 215/45 which are a tidbit shorter

Not much faster than Kumho 711s, really.

 

Dude, that's not even part of my question, I know that they have 200 treadwear, but I doubt that they will wear out that fast. I want to hear from people that have first hand experience. Not from people that 'hear they wear out fast'

 

I've gone though sets of both Falken Azenis and Kumho Ecsta 711s in 205/50-15. The Azenis had a harsher ride than the 711s due to a stiffer sidewall, and they were both pretty loud, especially when worn down. Since you'll be going from a short 205/40 Kumho 711 to a significantly taller 215/45 Azenis, they'll probably ride about the same, but I can't tell you for sure. Your acceleration will be a hair slower due to the larger overall diameter of a 215/45-15 vs. a 205/40-16. Your speedometer will read 5% too slow (i.e. you'll actually be going 63mph when it is only reading 60mph).

I got about 19,000 miles (plus about 30 autocross runs) out of my Azenis before they were down past the wear bars. I probably could have gone 3,000 more until they corded, but they were worn down enough that they hydroplaned bad in any standing water - so I replaced them since they were my street tires.

That's about all I can think of.

 

Might want to make sure the 215 azenis will not rub like mad on the sol. I just know that they are wider than other comparable tires with the 215 width.

Good point.

205/50-15 Azenis are actually around 219mm wide. I don't know how wide the 215/45-16 would be.

you obviously haven't heard the review about them in the rain and snow, however I have heard that they are a great street tire other than the rain and stuff...

umm i do have them..

 

azenis are fairly quiet for about the first half-life imo. after that they get a lot louder. ride is bumpier than 711s.

 

The thing I hate most about the low profile tires are hitting bumps with a loud bang inside the car. It annoys the S**t out of me, so I thought having increased the sidewall from 205/40 to a 215/45 would alleviate some of the harshness and noise associated with the lower profile.

 

if you are that concerned with noise, why dont you just go with the 50's profile?

 

Because the azenis do not com in 205/50/16, the only sizes they make for the 16" wheel are 215/45/16 and 205/55/16. The latter is much too big for the sol.

 

I just recently got a set of the azenis tires, I love them, if you are drag racing the car they are not for you though, the side walls are the stiffest I have ever seen, there is some tread noise but not that bad. I have a 205 50 15 any they are the same height as the stock tires on a 96 EX. But they are quite a bit wider then other 205 tires I have had, so far they are my favorite tire but I only use them at the track so I dont really know how many miles they are good for. Overall they are great tires I just wouldnt recomend daily driving them.

my only problem is driving in the rain with them i always get scared of hydroplaining

Well, they are peformance street tires. All reviews came from people who aren't dumb enough to drive in the snow with them...

 

If theese tires are daily driven the fact of hydroplaning would scare the **** outta me
