spoon or mugen strut tower bars-which do you guys prefer?
i am choosing between these two makes for a possible upgrade. either one seems to be good a choice, or maybe i should just stay with the stock one and buy a jdm one for the rear...any one with experiences and willing to share, i'd appreciate it. thanks. ps-i dont race or anything, but i love doing the twisties in my R
Hmm, good question... I need to replace my cheap DC Sports bar's too... I have all three of them, i own a Civic so thats y i have 3... Most of u guyz have an "R" so it means ur better then me cuz u have a stock lower rear one... Just wanted to post that part up before someone asks me y i need three... I might go for 4 if i find a good one in the front lower tie bar... Can anyone help???
I have the Spoon Rear Strut bar and I'll admit the Mugen bars in the pictures are better because they are one piece and have no pivot point, resulting in a much stiffer bar. However, the Mugen rear bar looks like you need to cut into the rear interior panel, which some people don't like. Plus the Mugen bars are incredibly expensive.
If you want something that is just as good or even better than the Mugen bars, try the Benen bars. http://www.benen.com. They cost alot less, look pretty damn nice and are one piece as well. A company called OMP sells inexpensive well built one piece bars, but they are kinda ugly.

Mugen bars all the way. Just look at the spoon strut bars... it's got a weak pivot point. But, it's your money, go with which ever.

I have the mugens. The mugens are more beefier than spoons. They also don't have many angle changes. Just straight from the bolting points, not raising a few inches to clear panels. Mounts look better too. more secure. I wish i got my hands on an 8 point front strut bar. Too bad they didnt' make them. to expensive to build is my guess.

not available for DC...and I think it's a 4pt mount (each side)

For the front bar, I think the Mugen is much better from the look of it. I also think the Mugen rear bar is better too, but I think the Spoon one is not bad too.
So if you have like $400+ to spend for 2 bars, get the Mugen one, but if you don't, get the Mugen front and Spoon rear one.

Mugen's bar is stronger then the Spoon ones. Mugen is made out of stainless steel so it is way way heavier then Spoon.
I used to have the Mugen 8 point but they dont fit properly so I swap it back to Spoon.

they did one hell of a job with mine then because Ive never seen steel look like the way it does on my rear bar. I would have guess titanium or aluminum before steel. Workmanship as always gets a

Well to me get the bar that suits your need. The spoon bar is lighter then the mugen however the mugen bar is stronger. Also the Spoon bar does sit lower then most std rear strut bars which to get non rubbing you will have to shave the bottom portion slighty around 1 cm. However the Mugen sits even lower and requires to cut into plastic panels around 2inches approx. The problem with this if you use your trunk you can slide things under the spoon almost most large size items but those items might not slid under the mugen bar unless you want to lay items on it.
I have spoons on my gsr, but I like the mugen better....
I just have too many otherthings to buy as well... to keep up with you ITR nutters
MUGEN gets my vote, they are much beefier and look far more beautiful than the spoons... I like the Mugens's robotech look and the no scrimp design -->straight across the towers and no moving parts

If you have the money, go with Mugen. However, I do think that stock bars are adequate. I would spend the money on mugen sway bars.
