Like virtually all CRXs, my sunroof panel's front lip is rusted. Its not bad, but being the paranoid type and not wanting rust to spread to my frame, I want replace it. A local place has a sunroof w/ the rails for $175.00 and he claims that there's no rust on it.

Should I bother with replacing it or should I just try to repair the one I have now? I haven't actually taken the panel off yet so there may be rust hiding on the frame back there too. I've read the horror stories and so I fear teh rustz0r--especially since I park it outside. =[

The other problem is the sunroof they have on hand is black, whereas my rex is Tahitian Green. It wouldn't look horrible but it won't match dammit.

So... Opinions, thanks!

 

do you use it quite often and feel the need to have it? i know this wasn't an option, but it was definately better than just letting it rust, but what about a cf plug? im not sure of the plans for your car, but just an option.

 

i would say do it, if your sunroof still works. My sunroof is rusted pretty bad, but i could care less because it doesn't even work haha.

 

Yeah surprisingly everything in my car still works great. *knock on wood*

Living where I live, using the sunroof isn't really an option right now, but in another month or two, yeah I use it pretty frequently. The plug is definitely an option that I"ve thought about but I'd like to keep it stock if possible. But if its the only way to stop rust, it'd be something I'd look at.

 

they are a PITA to get out and in. you gotta rip out almost the entire interior (not in the rear hatch). then you have to re-align it too.

 

i bought a new panel when i re-painted my crx.

i also got 2 1/4 panels and 2 fenders... so i don't know... i was worried about it until i decided to restore and then paint my car.
