Input shaft bearing gone mad?
This is for a honda Passport ( i know is an izusu rodeo, but...). Makes the infamous helicopter noise; real bad.changed the tranny fluid and had some metal in it.
It also stops when the clutch is pressed in, just like the release bearing would do.
It also does it in all the gears and when down shifting....BUT 4th, in 4th is smooth as new...WTF
Im thinking is the input shaft bearing.Any tips? the 4th gear being ok just throws me off..
thanks

your assesment sounds right
what happens is that when that bearing goes bad the gears aren't lined up perfectly, so when torque is applied to it, it makes that nasty sound
when you press in the clutch, it is releasing the energy that was being exerted on that main shaft, so the sound goes away
if the problem is not addressed the transmission will just get worse and worse
not sure if this applies for this car, i know that, that is the case with B series
