CRX vs Civic
Let's keep this from a flame war. Very simple, which is better, in your opinion?
1. Exterior appearance
2. Handling
3. Interior appearance
4. Function
5. "Sex Appeal"
6. Better race car
7. Potential

Civic makes a better autocrosser IMHO because it is classed better. It's more versatile too, with the back seat, and larger cargo area with the seat folded. Handling is great with the short wheelbase, but more predictable than the CRX which has an even shorter wheelbase.
CRX looks sportier and is equipped a little better. Handling is as kart-like as you can get. CRX is lighter of course, but not by much.
I would have definitely gotten an '89-91 Si hatch if I hadn't found my '91 CRX Si. It is a really tough decision; I like them both equally.
I voted for Civic overall, even though I have a CRX.

I'm kind of on the fence here. I drive a hatchback, but I voted for crx. Maybe I'm just so used to my car that I'd like to change it up a bit. But I love both cars, and I think that since everyone pretty much changes everything (engines, suspension, some interior, etc), it's real tough to say which is "better."
If I had an EF-8 and EF-9 sitting in front of me and was told to choose one or the other to drive, I'd probably choose the crx. But I could change my mind in a minute, day, week, whatever. I really just don't know.

I voted for CRX because I own one. If I had to do it again, I'd probably do a civic because as stated above, they are classed better because of the back seat.
CRX, looks a little sportier, handles great, but i am biased because i own one, but i do think they look a little nicer than the HB's, but i would own either, jsut prefere the crx.

ive owned both. I gotta say I love my HB more. I love crx's to death. crx's are the car that made me fall in love with hondas but they are just tooo damn small. I like small cars. but crx's are almost as small as it gets. there are small differences in the crx I like more than the HB but not by much. also I like the jdm EF9 just a little more than the EF8 but I love them both almost equally.I think I just drove a crx for 3 years so I got tired of it. I just got my HB. I love it! I will always own an EF though. no matter what. even if one day I get an EK I will still have an EF I love there style and soul
I've owned 2 of each. And currently own a 90 crx si. CRX wins hands down. Yeah a crx has less space in the back.....but I really do not care about rear seats and loading my car up with people and cruising around. I owned a 90 civic dx hatch and also a 90 si hatch and the si even had a zc in it and I hated it, according to honda a 90 si hatch weighs 2291lbs stock, and I'm sure a zc makes it a tad heavier. But that car felt slow as hell. When I got my stock 90 crx si it felt faster than the old zc hatch.
If I ever had to choose between a hatch and crx, I'd always take the crx

wheres the 4 door option? thats the sexiest of them all. fo dos fit moe hoes haha. i had to vote civic though. i like both equally. my next project will be a crx or a hatch depending on which i find first
Civic hands down.
Not as aerodynamic, but they are stiffer due to the smaller hatch opening.
For a rally car, the Civic is the better choice, because you need that extra room for spare parts.

Im goin with the civic. its got the room u need for a daily driver and it can be just as sporty as the rex. I like having room but i would always drive a rex if i could get away with not havin to tow my drums around. rex does definately look better
im sorry, but theres no way in hell the civic hatch is sleeker than the crx. the crx defines sleek, as the hatch goes to a slant, and comes to a complete 90 degree drop and still looks good. the civic rear is so big and useless. unless u drive around 3 other peeps all the time, the backseat is worthless. me and my bro both have crxs, and my bro had a 90 dx hatch and theres no comparison. ive only had a few situations where i wish i had a backseat in my first crx and that involved a bunch of hoes. the only thing i liked on the civic was the fact that the door didnt have a molding to mess with. otherwise, crx si had better seats, dash, rear interior, ahhh everything. but to each his own, some like the mini-wagons..lmao

I find the big rear end on the Civic to be rather useful for putting the car into HS, STS, and SM classes for autocross as opposed to the more difficult GS, STS-2 (which up until this year didn't even exist), and SM2 for the CRX.

this is true, i do respect the autox end of it. but ive autoxed a few times, and class didnt really bother me, only because there wasnt huge competition, im just saying, in daily use, id rather have a crx, and not have to look at a backseat, if i wanted a civic hatch, id get a 5th gen, i feel that their rear is hotter. im not gonna get a civic hatch just for autox, but if u already own one and want to race, autox is something to look into.
and then of course, u could just drive a stock si crx with suspension work and tear everyone up if ur good enough, ive heard the stories.

I voted Civic hatchback. I'm heavy into the whole "funtional" thing - If you go on a road trip, go camping, etc. & and need load your friends (plural) and all their gear up, it's nice to be able to do that. I also like being able to take the same car to the track the next weekend.
I don't think it's a major difference, just personal preference - I'm happy there is a choice.
[my opinion]
1. Exterior appearance - CRX
2. Handling - at the top-most levels of preparation, I can't say
3. Interior appearance - Civic
4. Function - Civic
5. "Sex Appeal" - CRX
6. Better race car - see #2
7. Potential - no difference that I can see
[/my opinion]
