Goofy Q: Can you center mount a baby seat in an '01 Integra sedan?
Hello everyone -
I have an '01 Integra GSR sedan that I have been trying to sell. A potential buyer just asked me - can you center mount a baby seat in the back?
I looked at the car and there appears to be a seat belt latch for a center occupant as well as some tether points on the rear deck. The instruction manual is a little lacking in this area - this isn't the first time that it's seemed it was primarily written for the two door version.
Well, there it is - if anyone has any info, I'd appreciate it! :

I would say no, the seat belts are designed to work for the 2 rear seats, there is not a 3rd belt, and the plastic tray between the seat is a problem. I have a 2001 GSR and have had 2 baby seats back there. I suppose you could center mount by criss crossing the rear seat belts.
If your bck seat has a plastic trey like a 2 door the answer is no. If you have a center seat belt the answer is yes. Its pretty simple just go look at your car.
I found out why the integra has that rear plastic tray while the JDM rear seats don't the other day.
According to US law, if there is a place where a person can sit, it must have a seat belt.
So in other words, there are some stupid people that would stick a person in the back seat where they weren't supposed to sit and just have them ride without a seatbelt, so in order to get around this Honda decided to put a plastic tray in the middle to discourage people sitting there.
Although the design of the plastic tray really could have been better. Would it have killed Honda to stick a cup holder in the tray?

I have the sedan...so I don't have a plastic tray in the back. I guess that means the baby seat could go in the middle? I'll have to go look at it again...I know nothing about babies or their seats!

Let me bring you a good news.
The answer is "YES". I have a sedan and I can put the baby seat in the middle with a secure position.
Here's a bit more detail.
There's a "lap belt" (I think it's what it's called) in the middle seat so that you can use it to hold the baby seat. But if you plan to do some racing or cornering with your baby in the back seat (bad idea). Then, you will need to use the right and left seat belts to do a cross over buckle up.
hope this will help.

Yes you can. Thats how I had my daughter's carseat when she was first born. Its actually better to put her in the middle for safety reasons. You just gotta use the lock that came with the carseat to secure the belt from not getting loose
dude you cant put a child in the middle. i have a nwe doughter and i wouldnt even THINK about putting here in the middle. if something would happen atleast you have the back seat to stop your child from goin through the front
Hey....
Thanks for the info everyone!
Even the duct tape comment, I guess that would work if it were my kids in question. But...since it's someone else's I figured I'd get the total scoop!
