ECU wiring and o2 sim gurus help!!
sup , im wondering if anybody knows how the o2 simulator heater works....how is it heated . and what are the heater wires from the ecu , i need to put a resister on there for the o2 sim and i dont have a secondary o2 harness anymore . im under the impression that both those black wires are grounds , one goes to the ecu and together they create heat . correct me if im wrong . but i need this so i can get rid of me CEL . thanks
The two black wires are for the heater section. One wire is a switched +12v, while the other wire is a 'controlled' ground through the ECU. I say controlled, because from what I understand, the ECU does not always supply a constant ground...its more of a PWM signal.
The heater element inside the O2 sensor has a resistance of 15-40ohms, as spec'd by the Helms. If your going to use a resistor here, you need a high wattage one.
