4th vs 5th gen?

hey, i was wondering which prelude is faster if it were to have the same mods suspension wise? running the same setups including tires. which will handle better and take turns fasteR? i am asking because of that JUN yellow 4th gen which handles very well but curious to know if they were to fix up the 5th gen like that, would it handle better? same? worse? how would they compete against eachother.
I believe the 4th gen will out perform the 5th gen in all of the categories because one the 4th gen is lighter than the 5th gen. If you find a 4ws 4th gen H22a1 that thing will keep up with the Type-R in handling. Overall I think the 4th gens are very underrated and can have the same potiential as the fellow integs and civics. Only thing that I don't like about the ludes is that they're a lil heavy and thats why people don't usually fix them up but you get more respect for modding out a heavy *** prelude.

you mean 2800 lbs, there is no way he has a 1800 pd lude.

the 4th gen wont outperform a 5th gen...and a 5th gen can easily be up there with those "type r's" with the right suspension mods...those type r's are overrated with everything, but their suspension...they're just as fast as the 5th gen preludes up to 80-85 mph and then they start pullin...dayam those cars, they're so damn light!!...but other than that i would be for the 5th gens...and im not being bias about it....
1800lbs thats ummm pretty light...Thats like plexan windows, CF hood, trunk, fenders, gutted interior, no sunroof, no center console, no seats, haha no seatbelts...I doubt he did all that unless he's only using it for straight track...
I have yet to see a stock 5th gen beat a stock 4th gen vtec. I believe the 4th gens are the best because of being so underrated. Honda went out on a limb to design the car. It looks completely different than all the other ludes, thus for standing out. There is no way an SH prelude could handle better than 4WS. IMO!! 5th gens are still awsome cause they are ludes, but i like the 4th gens much better.
news flash 4th and 5th gens have 90% same suspension parts base to VTEC and the 4th gen is lighter so equivalent suspesion mods a 4g wins.
And whoever said a 4g 4ws with an h22a keeps up with type-r's is on crack. 4ws is not that special

No way in hell any Prelude is 1800LBS. The 4th gen 5th gen has been covered a number of times people seem to think that the 4 th gen edges out the 5th gen, Here in Salt Lake City at the drag strip I see 4th and 5th gen running the same times.

Type R's are not overrated, 195hp at 2600LBS stock is nothing to sneeze at. Type R's are faster than any Prelude.

i dunno what the hell you guys talkin about my 5th gen lude handles so well even stock only thing that sucks are the tires, and also i read somewhere 1998 Honda Prelude best handling car under $30k both equally good i think

Probably true to a degree, however the Type-SH has a ton more caster than a 4th gen and a much revised front suspension which is why many people have geometry problems when trying to install 5th gen base items. I read a C&D article a long long time ago when the 5th gen first came out and they ran (yes, I know this is a very arbirtrary test) a test driver out for around 10 laps with a 4th gen vs 5th gen Type-SH vs 5th gen Type-SH ATTS disabled and found the 4th gen was a hair under (i mean like a hair, .2 sec on a 60 sec course) the Type-SH with ATTS disabled but ATTS enabled allowed it to pick up around 1.2 on the track. Yes, this is a very arbritrary test..
5th gen also had a supposed 60% chassis reinforcement, slightly revised suspension... Also, for those who think 4ws is a godsend the MAIN reason why it was developed was to give a tighter turn radius to FWD cars for Japan and Europe as their streets are much smaller than US/Can.
