vtec+white smoke??
Possible coolant problem in the early stages... leading to bad headgasket then to crack in block. Or if there is a tint of blue, then burning oil.

clogged cat.....are you sure its SMOKE? maybe its the powder substance that breasks loose out of the cat. iknow with my b18 every time i hit on it hard, my friends would say they would see a ton of white **** fly out of my exhaust.
im not saying it is a clogged cat for sure. but when i hollowed out my cat i still had a lot of the powder left over that i couldnt get out. and for like 5 miles, every time i floored it i left a thick *** white smoke screen. it was really just the catalist material blowing out.

see I get white exhaust in the morning, but I also think I'm burning oil, cause well it's low alot... and I don't see any spots on the ground where i park either?
well... i think i am burning oil...cuz every week after an oil change i gota add a qrt. i mean vtec motors do rev. high and all but i dont think it should be burning a qrt. a week. ima get it comp. tested asap..thanks guys
I have the same problem...
I have my VTEC engaging at 4400
It smokes past 6000 rpms and its white with a tint of blue and is only noticeable sometimes...
What could i do to stop this?
I did a compression check and here are the results
Cylinder #1: 200
Cylinder #2: 188
Cylinder #3: 200
Cylinder #4: 200
Engine: D16Z6
Mileage:98,400

VAFC probably. I also have this same issue. Only smokes at WOT in VTEC. It started after I put my head back on. My belief is that the head gasket didn't seal very well and a little coolant is making it into the combustion chamber. My compression is also good.

my opinon is that your head gasket is shoot or worse a crack somewhere (blown motor) my way to check for a very serious problem would be to drain your oil and check for milkshake (coolant in the oil). hope everything turns out good. also do you have a cold air intake or an intake that may have gotten wet? that may also be your problem.

dam i didnt think so many pplz had this problem..i think mine is the coolent cuz im using the xtended life (orange coolant) i thought it would be better..ima switch back to the green one and see what happens.
There really isn't much doubt that it is being caused by coolant. The head is under much more stress in the upper RPMs in VTEC which is why it then is allowing a little coolant to enter the chamber. I have changed my oil a couple times and it looks normal. The coolant also looks fine. I am sure it is more common on LS/VTECs because of the dowel pin reloaction and such. I am going to try retorqueing my head and if it doesn't help I will pull it and do a new headgasket.
