Default D16Z6 Tuning

What is the best point for vtec in a d16z6 with intake and headers, I have stock dx piping, it's a 89 civic std with 95 d16z6 89 crx si tranny, ecu and distributor. My question is what is the best point to have vtec switch over and what fuel settings would be the best? Right now I am having vtec hit at 4600 and everything after 4000 3+ with fuel. Is this too low of a vtec point and is it enough fuel?

BTW 4.6k is WAY too early...you are no doubt HURTING your performance.

I have mine set at 5400 vtec on and 5000 vtec off.

you should dyno tune it...as a general rule, you want to lean it out a touch during vtec.

Wouldn't VTEC want more fuel since there's more air? There's no dyno's in reno so that's out.

It makes sense, but stock OEM Honda ECU's tend to apply fuel very liberaly during VTEC operation, which is why alot of guys with heavily tuned NA applications tend to lean the motor in the upper rpm ranges to free it up from the excess fuel.
