Hey,
I was wondering if anyone in here has had a this problem before. Today I was driving and the car was perfectly fine, then it just shut off on me. It wouldnt start back up, it turns but no ignition.

I checked the fuel, pump is pumping fine. I changed the plugs thinking they might have been bad...no luck. The timing belt is in place cuz the rotor inside the distributor is spinning.

I took the spark plug wire off and shorted it to ground while cranking, but no arc. I tested the wires and they are conducting some current cuz it lights up my LED test light.

I checked the internal coil, all the resistances were within in specs with the book. All voltages are at what the book says they are supposed to be at. I'm thinking it might be the ignitor, which i hope its not cuz that thing isn't cheap.

I had a problem like that before with my 93. It ended up being my ingintion harness. Try that! We tried the fuel pump, starter, disributor but I had recently had all those things replaced so it wasn't them. I have heard that they need replacing after time just like everything else.

 

which ignition harness? the one from the distributor?

 

No the one you put your key in!

It has teeth inside that get worn down. Just a suggestion.

 

oh, I dont think that could be the problem cuz everything works. The car turns over, the dash lights up, all accessories work. JUST WON'T START!!! Thanks anyways.
