Emmisions recall on my '99, should I do it or not?
I got a notice in the mail yesterday (March 15 '04) for a recall on my '99 (affects some '98s and some '99s), they want me to take it in for an adjustment to something in the emissions. Per them, if I live in California, they will give me a letter or something saying that I had the work done and could take it to the emissions control place (I live in Illinois and don't have to have my emissions tested).
Should I do this? Is it going to weaken my horsepower if I do it?

no, it wont do much......but if ILL doenst have emisions, i wouldnt worry about it unless your getting **** gas milege/odd colored exhaust gases.......fight the power
My mileage is fine, just wondering if the recall was code for "you're getting too much horsepower due to a mistuned emissions piece, let us change it for you and hurt your horsepower".
Illinois does have emissions testing in the Chicago area and maybe some other large cities, but where I live there's no testing.

I just got a recall notice as well so I assume it the same one. basically what they are going to do is adjust the throttle body air bypass screw. no performance implications at all.
i'm going to get it done because i have to take it in to get the seats fixed under recall anyway. otherwise I wouldn't bother.
