like it says. anybody know of a comfortable riding strut/spring combo that will slightly tuck some 205/50/15's on a 96 hatch? non bouncy, not too stiff...

Depends on your preference.

I'm running H&R sports w/ KYB AGX's, and I think it's perfectly in between comfort and handling. Others think it's too sporty, and not as comfortable.

If I could do it over again, I'd get H&R Sports w/ Koni Yellows.

But Sports don't really TUCK 15's. Maybe Eibach Sportlines or H&R Race, but I don't know the comfort differences of those.

yea, i had H&R sports and kyb agx on my old crx. ride was great. handled nice, but no where near low enough.

If you want to tuck you're 15's, you really are looking at needing a stiff suspension. At that point, the wheels will be so tight in the fender wells that taking turns or hitting bumps at any kind of speed is going to cause your tires to rub the fender wells.

I am now running Koni yellows on full stiffness, skunk2 coilovers and I'm tucking 14" HX wheels and I rub around hard corners sometimes. Them's the facts man.

 

ok. i dont want them tucked.. just sitting right at them.. like no gap. i can handle a somewhat stiff ride.. just not bouncy. im sitting on these LS wheels with no gap at all on cheap coilovers and tokico blues.... its not too stiff for my likings, just too bouncy.

 

and i dont even know how much of a drop that is. dont the H&R race or nuespeed race springs slighty tuck? i know they're stiff, but put them with a good adjustable strut and maybe even strut extenders.. and I should be good right?

 

h@r race will tuck 16's with 205/40/16 tires so it might tuck 15's

i got tokico blues..with sprint extreme coils, the drop is about 3.25" in the front and 3.00" in the rear , and i cut the bump stops very small, about a inch. i am sitting on top of tyres. the ride is incredible.

 

Definitely go with Tein S TECH lowering springs and KYB AGX shox

 

what about getting some struts for like 89-91 crx and using em on a hatch with some low springs. like on my 94 eh2. i had crx rear struts with coilovers, and front crx agx's (used crx lower fork) and coilovers. putting the crx struts on alone lowered the car about an inch or so. the piston is so much shorter stock for stock..

this way when you put 2.5" drop springs on like H&R race...the car is dropped, but where the stock strut would be compressed 2.5"+ . these have shorter piston and so you get more suspension travel before they bottom out. i know i ramble like a damn fool and cant explain anything for ****. anybody else running EF struts care to help?

Just replace the Tokico Blue shocks with something that has enough damping for your springs, such as Koni Sports, and you won't bounce anymore.

Ground Control upper mounts would extend your shock travel a little more.

 

If you want to 'tuck' your wheels, there is no way to do this comfortably. Think about it. You are losing at least 2.5" of suspension travel, so you need to compensate by stiffening up your shocks and getting heavier springrates. If you leave everything soft for a comfortable ride, you will be bouncing off of your bumpstops on every dip in the road. And please don't cut the crap out of the stops--that's not the answer either.

H&R Sports will give you what you are looking for in a comfortable yet sporty ride, but you won't quite tuck. You need to pick what you want out of your suspension because you usually can't have both.
