New laptop with win XP, need serial port for motec?????????
Have a new laptop with XP and it has no serial port for my motec and aem. I have the usb to serial adaptor, how to get it to work? I know this is not really car related but I am sure someone here has had the same problem.
I believe motec is working on usb/serial adaptor to ecu software. It may be brand specific concerning how to tell the software where/what the port is. I've used customers laptops with various brands pcmcia/serial cards with success. Some of the adaptors are pricey compared to the price of a cheap laptop. Hope this helps.

I have the adaptor, in fact I have two. I am a car guy not a computer guy, so when I connect it the computer tries to install it but cannot find the software. So I still get "ECU not connected"
