1990 CRX DX -->B16A1 install questions!
I have a 1990 DX, and a full conversion b16a1 from hmotorsonline.
Its at my friends shop, hes helping me by supplying a place to do this, and parts.
Old motors out, preped and cleaned the engine bay, painted it flat black
Then we started to look at this wiring, and holy ****, what a nightmare.
First off, yes i know Hasport will make one, but has anyone done this by hand?
So far every walkthrough ive found says first to wire dpfi-->mpfi, and then says nothing else. Which is un-endingly annoying, thats like if you were baking a cake, and one of the steps said, add SOME water, with no mention of how much to add.
Im decently mechanically inclined, and i work as an audio/security installer all day, and this kid helping me is a mechanic. I spent a good amount of money and I just want it to come out perfect, but I have ZERO money left, and i don't feel like waiting all that time for Hasport to make this harness.
So my question is, can anyone walk me through this?
I know to use my DX harness, but looking at this, do I need a resistor box off an Si? Why doesnt the SiR come with one?
Certain things just weren't adding up, so we stopped for today.
I now have found this chart at http://b16a.honda-perf.org/theswap.html
----------------------------------------------------
A3 cut, connect ecu end to Injector #2 wire on First harness
A6 cut, use harness end later
A7 cut, connect ECU end to Injector #4 wire on First harness
A8 add, connect to VTEC solenoid wire on Third harness
A10 cut, connect ECU end to harness end from A6
B2 cut, we will use harness end later
B4 cut
B5 cut, connect ECU end to oil pressure switch wire on Third harness
B7 cut
B10 add, we will connect to this later
B11 cut
B12 add, we will connect to this later
B19 add, connect to knock sensor wire on Third harness
B20 leave alone
C1 cut, connect harness end to ECU end of B10 above,
connect ECU end to crank angle sensor wire on Second harness
C2 cut, connect harness end to ECU end of B12 above,
connect ECU end to crank angle sensor wire on Second harness
C8 cut, connect to second O2 sensor on Third harness
C9 cut
----------------------------------------------------------
ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I did it all at the same time..It is really no big deal...
Just do the "dpfi to mpfi conversion" and add the four extra wires
for the VTEC. You need the resistor box and its wiring and the injector clips..
If you look in the FAQ at the top of the CRX/EF forum,
I submitted several links for the swap and MPFI conversion.
..Be sure to read up on the O2 sensor wiring also in the FAQ..
That was what gave me problems..

Well I hate to sound like a jerk but your friend must not be a good mechanic if he cant figure it out for himself, there are plenty of diagrams just do some more searching......If he nor you cant read a wiring diagram then get the harness from hasport youll save yourself headaches.

Well its too cold to do it outside here, and its been my experience that "just figure it out" is a foolish thing to do when asking a question is available. thanks.
also, in his defense, he doesnt normally do swapping of any kind. its more the favor of using his place. but he was a lot of help with removing the old and the mounts and hammering for the alternator.
Don't buy the harness conversion from Hasport. Do it yourself. You will save yourself a buttload of money and learn a thing or 2 about wiring. Don't worry. We will be here to help you out. There are a few hundred people here who have done this. Another couple hundred who have not, but still know what to do from reading it so many times.
