Dx still wont start
All my ef's have been mpfi this is my first dpfi and im having a bad experience with it
Its getting fuel and spark and it still wont start. Ignition timing and cam timing are fine.
Thanks replaced, main relay fixed a starting issue at an earlier time, now after this problem started ive replaced the coil and ignitor but car still wont start
Any suggestions

Double check everything. Make sure everything is plugged in, or is were it's supposed to be. Has the engine been running good before this, or been down for some time? A sitting engine is harder to start sometimes. I used to have the same problems when my engine was DPFI.
Everything is pluged in. Before the car stopped starting it kinda got worse over a three day period. so i replaced the ignitor and coil thinking that could be the problem buts its not
Cool let me know usally when you're getting fuel and spark and it dont start its a timing issue but in the case the ignition timing and cam timing are fine
yo i would deffinetly check that main relay under the dash again bro, i had one go three times on one of my old crx a few years ago in only a few months, its a grounded unit so make sure its bolted tight too.
hope u find the prob though.

Just to make sure the main relay isnt the problem.. Look on the main relay and your will see numbers.. Just pins 1,3, and 7 together and try to start it then.. This will bypass the relay..
Easy "quick check" of main relay:
Get in car and close door. Be QUIET and listen for the fuel pump to make a whirrrring sound as you turn the key to ON (not START). The Check Engine light should light up on the cluster (for about 3 seconds) and during the time that it's on the pump should whirrrrr. If not, either the pump is dead or the relay is dead. Most likely the relay.

yeah ive tried three differnt main relays. And yes the fule pump is priming

Well it the motor just spins i dont even sound like any gas at all is igniting. i know for sure its getting fuel even if it wasnt tried starter fluid, and i also poured a lil gas in the cylinders still nothing sounded like it ignited at all

As far as I know the main relay isnt a grounded unit, or else I have a miracle crx since mine is unbolted right now but hanging from the harness behind the change tray.
You may be right. That was the first thing I thought of when I took mine off and thought is this grounded? I think from what I could tell it clearly looks like a bracket oh and being that ive installed like 4 of these youll know there is no special way for them to actually connect to this bracket. they are simply a plastic relay......

this is just a dumb thought that came to mind, but what about the battery and the terminals, like are they in good contact with the battery post?, my car wouldn't start once and it was the terminals not in complete contact with the post.
Alright just clarify here, where are you at with this thing......have you checked spark and if so how?
Fuel? and how?
work with me on this since I want to help you and Im sure we can get that thing running.

Well ive checked spark where the wire connect to the distributor, i have at the other end of the wire, and ive also pull the plugs out and put them in the end of the wire and held close to the valve cover while someone has tried to crank and all 4 get spark. Ive never had a problem like this
And you've got fuel?
Does it pop/backfire when your trying to crank it or is it a good clean crank it just wont turn over?
Dude its prob. just flooded like crazy(more less vapor locked).......heres a trick to get it running if it is, take all your plugs out and clean them with parts cleaner and or replace them(thats what Id do) blow out the cylinders with a blow gun(youll need some sort of compressed air to get all the fuel outta the cylinders) stick a funnel down in the cylinders and 1 by 1 put a tiny bit of oil in each cylinder let it sit for quite a while so that the oil can work its way around the rings. This helps to get rid of the fuel in the cylinders and create extra compression to increase the chances of better combusion.
Reinstall your plugs and just try to crank it. It might take a few times (alot actually) and it will smoke alot when it does start but let it run for a while and it should be fine.
pull your dipstick out and smell it is your oil saturated with gas? thats an easy way to tell if its big time flooded....change the oil too(think about doing this before you do what I said above)
If your getting fuel, spark, and your timing is right there is no reason it shouldnt start, unless there is somthing big your totally missing and or there is somthing your not telling us about as far as replacing other things in the past other then the dist. and the main relay.

Yeah thats the only thing i can think of is its flooded. I pulled all four plugs out and have cranked it to see if i can see any fuel comming out. But erlier today i opened the trottle plate and looked down there and see some gas down in that could that mean its flooded
It takes 3 things for an engine to run:
Fuel, spark, and timing. Make sure the rotor on the distributor is clean and attached in the proper position, and the timing belt lines up correctly. It may have come loose causing you to jump time, and eventually slipping far enough that your car wont start.

I have a friend who had the same problems you are having. Ill talk to him see if he can remember what it is.
