Who out there has the highest streetable whp for an all-motor SOHC? What kind of setups are out there? I'm looking for reasons not to boost my D16Z6.

 

user "builthatch" has 164whp d16y8. I believe it is a mild build.

 

Like 2 or 3 people on honda-tech are only about 5-10 hp short of the 200 whp mark on a JDM d16 v-tec motor. Search them.

 

OH ****, you said all motor my bad I didnt read your post well enough. the guy before me is right, thats about the highest your going to get. N/A is best tho!

dang! that's pretty awsmome! I was wondering if 200 whp was even possible. That's getting pretty close!

 

although debatable, the highest streetable SOHC is prolly a 500+ ci V8 or similar, though for Honda i4s, i'd say read up on Bisi's F20, or D15. yes, they are full race setups, but surely you can use some of the tech for a nice street build. Mista Bone has had luck (likely due to his skill) with a basic d16 which he sprays on the strip, and Tim @ Unleaded Racing loves to play with Ds to test their limits.

if you want a reason not to boost a D, for me it'd be since i'd spend so much to do it well (good components), that i might as well go NA with a b18 or b20. reason not to boost a B would be because i could build a nice NA K23... .

i havent got my car on the dyno yet but last year i ran 14.7's all motor with my SOHC V-tec and all i really had was port and polished head and 3 angle valve job... but im guessing im making at least 140 to the wheels ? does anybody think that sounds right?

I wish I could make 140 to the wheels with just a P&P and valve job..
