90 Hatchback from Minnesota (snow+salt) ....is this LCA bolt coming off?
I'm planning to do my suspension install this weekend, but i'm a bit worried. This car is from minnesota (snow) and its suspension has never been changed. So basically this thing has been in the snow for over 14 years on stock suspension.
Do you think it'll come off? I've been PB blasting it for the past week, but i don't know how much good it'll do. I've been told a million times to just *try* it, but i'm really freaked about breaking that lca bolt...

i'm pretty sure you don't have to worry about it. mine came off ok from 13 years off Canadian snow and salt and i just used some blaster the night before so i'm pretty sure your ok
Its not a matter of breaking...its a matter of stripping. Get a good breaker bar for your first turn..and if it doesn't go, find some place that has air. If you are really worried about it, make sure you take those off first rather than last. Ive had some lca's that came off easy, others that needed acetylene torches to get off. Good luck.

hit it up with PB Catalyst Penitrating oil a few days before you plan on doing it. Will make it way easier.
good luck man....i live in MN too. my rear LCA arm bolt was actually siezed to the metal sleeve in the rubber bushing. so it got to the point where turning the bolt would turn the whole sleeve inside the bushing. i ended up getting a new bushing pressed in. if you do get it out, be sure to spread some anti-sieze compound on it to prevent problems in the future. a word of hope: the other side came right out without any problems. maybe you'll get lucky.
hope it goes well

What's the cotter pin?
Either way, you guys have given me hope
I was expecting mostly, "take it to a shop," answers.

w0rd. PB blaster will help more than anything!!! Do watch the bushing though. I had one turn in there too.

no wonder it wont come off!!!! you have to take out the cotter pin, it is a pin that goes thru the stud and makes it so the crown bolt wont back out, get it out and it WILL come out

Yeah, from the honda suspension setups i've worked on, the rear LCAs just have a bolt going through the shock and LCA itself.
