I was on my way to the races when my car just shut off out the blue....no crazy noise no Cel , no stutering, just shut off...me and my friend checkd it today and we believe its the Dizzy but I wanted a 3rd 4h etc opinion.Im getting no spark and the car wont stat even when push started....The rotor had a burn mark on it and I checked the wires for power and 2 are not getting any the Green and one of them is making a noise when the check light is applied>>>so Is it the dizzy? Oh yeah its a D16Z6

 

Cripes, I had the same thing happen to me early this winter. I ended up replacing the distributor's cap & rotor, the ignition coil and the igniter, and put in new plugs on the recommendation of the shop I took it to for diagnosis... Did all that and haven't had a problem since. I too am running a D16Z6.

A buddy of mine with the same setup (D16Z6) had the same issue a year before and he just replaced his cap & rotor to solve his problem.

I think you're right that it's the distributor.

 

same thing happended to me when I had my z6 a few yrs ago....start with the cap/rotor...if that doesn't work head on to the ignition coil and igniter....when it happened to me I left it sit for awhile and when I came back it started up fine, so dumbass me thought the prob was solved....unfortunately instead of the rotor, I had to replace everything.....hard lesson to learn....good luck

 

just happened to a friend a few weeks ago...turned out to be the coil.

 

bump.. i this is sort of similar to something that happened to me.. and explain dizzy some one post a pic of it 2.. people keep using it but i never grasped wat it truly is.. (look down at sig.. too!)
