i dunno if its me or what but i took my car to the track the other night with the kuhmo 711 ecsta tires on my car and i dunno if its just the tire is new or they just really suck.

orig b4 on the steelies i had ran a 14.4@94 w/ a 2.108 60' and the rest of the 5 runs i got in were 2.1 60's also. i just recently bought wheels and tires and when i bought tires i went cheap( ikno my fault) and bought the kuhmo ecsta 711 tires 195-50-15s. when launching the same way i did wit the firestones i couldnt pull better than a 2.19 60' and that was just luck because all my 60's where in the 2.5 range. with the pressure on 15psi on the kuhmos. with the stock 14" steelies i went down to 20 psi and never had traction problems. the kuhmos wheel hop and spin once i fully hit it WOT.

in ur opinions give the kuhmos another chance or are the firestones just that much better than kuhmos???

 

My friend had a 3.2 (not a typo) 60's on kuhmos with a jackson racing gsr. I think you mentioned it in your post, the tires are just cheap. They are good tires for the buck, but as far as I have seen they just do not perform at the track. Just wait until you get some miles on them and you no longer hear your exhaust or motor because they are being drowned out by the sound of your tires.

 

i just went out to the track tonight and witht eh 711's i am getting worse 60' times with a better(closer gears) tranny and clutch than my old LS tranny and a worn out ACT with some decent tires

i got rather angry

i will no longer use these tires for the track

 

ok but you also changed wheels? what kind, are they heavy?, going from a 14 in steely to a 15in alloy shouldnt make a huge diff, but you never know. The khumos ARE junk for the track, but i dunno how good the firestones are either, if you want good cheap tires, theres allways Azenis........................John

 

agreed with h22john...

you changed two factors in your setup. you increased your wheel size from 14"->15" and you changed your tires from firestone -> kumhos 711. I could get all scientific and shiet, but bottom line is its both increasing your wheel size and also using Kumhos.

kumho's 711 suck... the 712's are a bit better much not that much better. I had them on for track as well and they werent that great. They are the best bang for the buck in my opinion (for road driving)

If you're really into dragging, put some Mickey Thompson skinnies on your 14" steelies or get some 14" rims for them--i recommend lenso or axxis.

 

well the rims wiegh less that SI wheels or steelies not entirely too light but decent and strong(got them for 200 bucks in thailand cant go wrong shiet).. but def i think the tires suck i drove them around on the street too if i would bring it up to 4 and slamm the gas nothing but spin even from a roll.

 

The Kumho 711 is far from a performance tire. What do you expect from $40 a piece?

well them shitty firestones hook better for me than the BF-Gs did i went from 2.2's wit BF-G Gforces b4 to 2.1s wit da street tires i guess imma street tires shitty brand type of guy lolz.
