Default How do I obtain/pull the codes from the ECM

I have a 1990 prelude. I need to know the procedure to get the trouble codes from the ECM.

What does ODB mean?

This is the first Honda car I have ever owned.

I had no idea these cars would perform like they do!

I think that you are incorrect...

1990 = NON OBD

OBD-I came out in 1992 model Preludes if I'm not mistaken... please correct me if I'm wrong!

OBD = On Board Diagnostics (Mostly emissions related)

OBD-I : 92-96
OBD-II: 96-on

The years might be off by one or two though, that's just off the top of my head...

The NON-OBD ECU's should have the flashing LED to show you the indicated code.

dp.-

A 1990 Prelude is OBD-0

91 and older = OBD-0
92-96 = OBD-1
96 and up = OBD-2

On your ECU, (this works for crxs and civics, i'm not 100% sure it works it works with preludes) which is probably under your passenger side carpet (there is also probably a metal covering protecting the ECU which is held on by a few bolts) othere is a little red light that will blink if your check engine light is on. A long blink is a "10" and a short blink is a "1," so if it blinks "long long short short short" that is a code 23. I think that link will tell you what a few common codes mean, if not there are other links, probably easily accessible on this site.
