Miami Spring Break 2004 :)
Well, we just got back from spring break in miami. We had soooooooo much fun. But a bit of bad news. Well, long story short, I park on 16th and jefferson at 12 am, come back at 1:45am, and find my car like this. It was wierd though, I had this feeling like something was going to be very wrong with the car when I returned so when I came back and saw glass all over the ground, I was calm as if nothing happened at all. I had my digital camera and everything in the car and all they took was the radio. I was very happy for that. It had to be some beginners though cause it looks like they tried to jim the lock and gave up and just broke the window. All they took is the radio and they did a bad job because the tuner button and some other buttons from the radio were on the floor so basicly, they broke in my car to steal the radio after they broke it all up
I am definatly not mad and rather accept that this will happen with moding a car. Here are some pictures:

At least I blew off a lot of energy before here so thats why I was probably so calm about it

Now my questions. Damage wise, they bent the outer metal panel of the door trying to jim the lock and they broke the window. How hard is it to replace those parts and should I let insurance do it with my $500 deductable or just fix it out of my own pocket?
Also, I'm done with the whole aftermarket radio thing, if anybody has an oem 96-00 CTR or EX radio that glows amber, I'll take it from you. It must play CD's and be in perfect operating order. None of these wierd ones that play for a while then just go mute

I must say before anything though all in all, Miami was sooooooooooooo fun and this did not deture my good time at all, though it kinda made the passenger cold on the highway
I definatly recommend miami as a vacation spot

So is my door reusable or do I have to get a whole new door put on and repainted?

This is the funny part. First off, the car was parked right across the street from the intrance of a huge well lit parking garage. The guy who takes the parking money could have watched my car get broken into by just sitting in his booth. Thats how close it was to him.
He says he didn't hear or see anything. Then I think, parking garage, there must be cameras that saw the whole thing. I go to the security office. First off, they told me that I can only see the footage if my life was threatened like if they held me up at gunpoint or something, so no go there. Then I say, well, I don't know this place at all, can you call the police for me. They say NO, you have to do it yourself. Some security...
So after calling 911 and getting passed down the line from lesser to lesser emergency, I grew impatient and called 411 to ask for the miami police number. Finally I get it and call the police. They say they don't do drive outs any more and if I want to file the report, I have to drive my glass fragmented car to the police station. I say ok, drive there, and then they make me pay $8 to park my car in the garage even though I was going to the police department and not the beach or something. I pay the $8, smile, park my car in the garage, take those pictures above, go tell everything that happened to an officer in a booth in the PD who's filling out a form. He gives me a card and thats it. Then I get to drive my car to walmart to pick up some plastic matting to cover the window with and play around with this weak suction gas station vaccuum cleaner which could only lift up the glass if you kinda scoop assist it
After that, I smile again and head off with a window back flaping in the wind dam near deafening
I'm still kinda amazed that I smiled the whole time from discover to conclusion...

that sucks, It looks like you will have to replace your door skin and window moulding. shouldnt be much but with paint and labor it might get over 500 bucks. I worked at a body shop and replacing a door skin isnt as easy as people make it sound. you have to CAREFULLY cut the old one off and re-weld the new one on and make sure it matches perfectly. its a bitch and you will probably be better off going through insurance. but just goto a shop first before you report it to insurance. ask for a free quote. hope that helped
i live in miami and i couldint picture living anywhere else there is always something to do , im really sorry about your car this doesint say much for south fl lol but your k0ol for keeping k0ol

sucks that had to happen. the downtown/miami beach area isn't the best when it comes to crime and theft... good luck getting it repaired and what not. just curious, where's that skate park?
hope you enjoyed your time in good ol' MIA...

That is control skatepark. Its an indoor skatepark thats on NW 24th street. Its kinda wierd finding it cause you have to know where it is cause its like in the middle of this pretty beat up looking neighborhood. Funny I was worried about my car at the skatepark and it turned out OK and then gets violated on the beach
