I was at a somewhat shady location, and this kid wasn't paying attention when he backed up. He backed into the side of my itr powered hatch right at the gas filler door. White 88-91 integra (DA) coupe. Looked bone stock. His name is "dustin gooch," and he looked under 21.

He claimed he didn't have his insurance on him, so I just got his tag # (rockdale co) and cell #... I was kind of preoccupied at the time.

Well, I only have liability on my hatch. It doesn't look too bad - but it's a real ************ of an inconvenience.

Anyway, his passenger and friend said he was a bodyshop guy and would come out today and pop it out for me with his tools. I just called the cell # he gave me, and it says "juan isn't here right now... blah blah blah" on the voice mail.

So I'm trying to go over my list of options:

I think I'm going to give him a day or so to call me back. In the meantime, I guess I'll get an estimate from a local body shop. Anybody know of a GOOD one? I'd prefer paintless dent removal/ dent wizard type of work first - because it's just my POS hatch. But at least it was STRAIGHT before! I wouldn't mind even riding around with it repaired to straight and true, as long as it had touch-up paint or primer on the ugly portion so it wouldn't rust. My buddy looked at it and said he thought it would cost more than $500 because of the location and because it'll need a respray. Needless to say, I can't afford to come out of pocket for that right now.

Also, what if the info he gave me was wrong? Shall I just call the po po and say it was a hit and run but I got the tag info? I have witnesses, so that would be a definite plus...

I get a call back from some girl who claims she's in Jasper and that her brother and his friend went out clubbing last night. She's asking me why I keep calling his phone..... I told her that they backed into me and so I'm calling to settle this before I go to the police. She denies any relationship with those involved and claims she doesn't know anyone named Dustin or anyone with a white integra.

First off a DA is a 90-93, not an 88-91.

Insurance companies don't like to pay out for hit and run claims, I had one in December and I'm still going through the corporate red tape trying to get some money. If you can get the police to track them down, then that would be your best option. Use the hit and run as a last resort.
