Default NEW TO IMPORTS BUT READY TO SUPE THE TEGRA UP

Hello ladies and gentleman, im new to imports and im just willing to know as much as possible so i can supe my 01 integra gs up. i wrecked my 00 ss camaro rip but i need some ideas from any and every body to make my car faster. I would like to boost the power. What do you think is the best: or where should i start, its a nice little b18 engine stock and ready to go
- headers?
- exhaust?
- both?

how much can I gain with each?

Do you think it is worth changing the engine to a GSR, compared to both headers and exaust modifs?

i doubt more than 15-20 with intake, headers and exhaust. those motors are very efficient from the factory

If your gonna get boost dont waste your money on the intake and headers. Just save up the money for the boost. I/H/E will just be a waste if your gonna go boost. Use that money for some suspension mods too.

EDIT ----Oh yea and welcome, don't know if your gonna have much fun without this thing called torque seeing as how you use to drive an El es Juan. Turbo can make up for it though.

OK, in GM V8 land you might see 30-40hp from headers, intake and exaust on a dyno... with your new found 4 of fury, you MIGHT get like 5-10...

A b18 is no LS1. Although the combustion chamber is far superior to LS/LT motors

Anyway let me put it this way... my Teg put down 150 basically stock... and then I layed down close to 6 grand to build an "insane" high compression NA motor that was still streetable, but only barely... all that for a gain of 50 HP

talking hp at the fly?

intake - 5

header - 8-10

catback - maybe 7-10

pretty decent if you ask me.... its all about the power to weight ratio in hondas any way (yes i know it is in all cars too, but thats the logic behind honds, light car + small motor = fairly quick).... not about making 400hp, weighing 4000lbs or raw steel, getting 11mpg, and polluting the air.

No need for massive HP when you have a vehicle thats 4 times lighter

If you just want to go fast, then go get another Camero. A Camero will beat an Integra off the line almost every time (unless you want to strap an afterburner on it). If you want to really drive, then keep the 'teg, and tune, tune, tune. That said, welcome to the brave new world.

On second thought, why not get an afterburner?

if you're driving a GS you'll probably want to go turbo. You won't make much horsepower off that thing NA as it doesn't have VTEC. You could swap in a GSR engine and make more horsepower off the bat that way, and perhaps turbo later. That would cost a lot of money though.

As a lot of people have been saying, without any actual reasons, you should go turbo. Take advantage of the lower compression GS engine and get a turbo kit. Gonna cost you a few grand but you should be able to clear 200 to the wheels on stock internals fairly easily.

the B18b1 is worthless as an N/A motor IMO...so i say save up your cash and go turbo.

I cant believe we are actually adding HP number when we know the system has to work together This is a sad say for honda-tech.

Anyway I have good news for the former SS owner. You Only need ONE header on an inline four cylinder!

Whats with everyone and their attitude problems and smartass comments?

I tell you what son... my Portflow Headwork, ITR Valves, Portflow bronze valve guides, Toda springs, portflow Ti retainers and Toda Spec C cams alone are half of that.

Add in the pistons, balancing, machine shop work on the block, hondata, Accusump, 8.8lbs flywheel, distributor parts, Skunk2 Manifold, JG/Edelbrock TB, Hondata Race Manifold gasket and so on and well the **** is expensive.

Sadly you are correct, stickers do not add horsepower, but big glasses of shut the hell up do.

Its fairly hard to squeeze 200fwhp out of one of these stupid little 1.8L motors.

NS98GSR: Please dont confuse the man with your VTEC comment... VTEC does not give you more power, it extends how long you have the same ammount of power.

And just your luck, the ONE header will cost just as much as BOTH of the headers for your SS!!

Sorry for the double post, I just had to shed some light on the irony of going from domestic to import...

wait for plug wires and head studs... you get half as many for the same if not more!!

Camaro SS is around 3300lbs
Integra GS is around 2700lbs

Camaro SS makes somewhere around 300hp to the wheels
Integra GS makes somewhere around 130hp to the wheels

This folks is why Camaro SS runs 13s in the 1/4 stock, and GS Integras run 17s.

Its not about power per litre, its about power to weight.

i think those are very very very fair guestaments for a stock g3 teg. yes, i know things do work together, and can change the gains completly, but were talking about a bone stock g3 here. and noticed how i left a little space there with the header and exhaust?.... even with all 3 i highly doubt the gains are gonna vary any more than that.
