Default Fix for vibrating noises coming from the trunk area: 4th Gens

Hey guys, I was working on the car today. I decided to find out what was vibrating so much when my sub would hit. It turns out that the points where the speaker mounts to the metal on the rear deck and the the 3rd brake light were vibrating the most.

I pulled out the third brake light (it needed cleaning anyway. Bugs died up there) and I took out the rear speakers (already had them out because I dyed them black again. They faded to a purpleish color. PM me if you want to know how to dye them).

I had some black sub box carpet (I am sure you could use some other cloth material if you don't have this) so I cut a rectangular piece and glued it to the top of the brake light. I also put two VERY small pieces of carpet on the two little end pieces where the third brake light kind of touches the rear windsheild. I then remounted the brake light and now it has a nice snug fit.

For the rear speakers, I cut 12 little square pieces (approx. 1/2 inch X 1/2 inch) of carpet. I cut little holes in them to slide over the 3 mounting screw studs on the speaker bracket. I put one between the rear deck and the speaker mounting screw. I then put another piece between the rear deck and the mouting bolt.

There are three mounting bolts one each speaker bracket. So, you use 2 pieces per mounting screw. A total of 12 pieces will be need to do both speakers.

I took the car out for a spin, jamming to the latest Korn CD, and I do not get ANY noticeable vibrating sounds coming from the reat of the car. The music sounds a lot nicer and cleaner. A simple fix for a VERY annoying issue. It makes the car feel newer.

If anyone has any questions, IM me and I will help you. It's not a hard thing to do at all.

Awesome! Thats the same thing I did to mine like a year ago. It was soooo annoying. But still to this day no rattles.

Oh yeah and that new korn album rocks!
