Default Anyone with 4.78 ITR Final drive in there GSR

Anyone with a 4.785 ITR final drive in their GSR? How much did it raise your rpm in 5th? Has anyone put in the LS 5th gear with the install. How does the gear ratios compare with the 98 spec ITR? Also please give me a website I can order the kit that comes with everything that I'll need to do the install. I'm assuming the final drive kit will work with the ITR or CTR LSD right?
Thanks

Easy there killer. When getting into trannies, you have to consider cost and function. Taking a stock GSR tranny and adding a JDM ITR final drive and LSD will cost quite a bit. Why not just buy a JDM ITR tranny that already has those and turn around and sell your GSR tranny to help offset the cost. You'd end up with even better gear ratios than you would with the modded GSR tranny, plus it won't cost as much in the end.

To answer your question about the gear ratios, the 98 spec JDM ITR tranny has 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear equal to a B16 tranny, and 4th and 5th equal to a GSR tranny. All of them are shortened, however, due to the 4.785 final drive.

Check out http://www.passwordjdm.com and http://www.hmotorsonline.com

If they don't have one, then they should be able to get you one.

It all depends. I would think that if you found the right buyer, you could probably get seven or eight hundred bucks for it.

If you've got a Gs-R you're almost better off just buying a JDM ITR tranny, since it's got the right FD and LSD in there. Then it's as simple as ripping off the old tranny (selling it for some nice coin), and putting the JDM ITR on.

User Ketone went this route and his car is vastly improved.

Thanks for the info. Has he had any trouble with the tranny grinding yet. Just wandering if I should have someone go through the tranny before I install it into my car. How many miles is on his tranny?

Thanks again
