Default Problems with ZC motor????

Im going to sound real dumb here but am stumped.

Now when I bought my last car from the auction ( 92 Civic HB), it has a ZC motor swap with p28 ecu, but the vtec is not working and the Check engine light is on.

I have no idea why it wouldnt work, the car drives good, but no vtec. Sorry im a noob at this stuff.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

are you sure about that???

my SOHC ZC has vtec. It's the JDM version of the D16Z6.

Clarify which ZC you have

Are you talking about the old school non-vtec DOHC 1.6 litre engine or a z6 sohc.

This is where i get lost...Is there numbers i can post to know if it really is Vtec? I know it says ZC on block and then there are numbers underneath it.

The valve cover says VTEC on it, but for all i know the Valve cover was just put on cause they didnt have another.

Make sure the oil is up to the proper level, change it as well.

and also make sure coolant level is good, if there is air in the coolant vtec does not always engage.

check your codes first....may be that vtec isn't wired up, ecu is bad, etc etc.

Could be a lot of things....you gotta help yourself out before we can try and help

looks like the engine harness has the vtec plugs....but y0, you need to get rid of that exhaust manifold, like yesterday bro! lol

you can unplug the ecu, and see if the harness is pinned properly for vtec....I can't think of the locations off tha dome right now though....

Hey that valve cover is custom

I have no idea if they used VX head, but it is a CX model car.

I wish I could explain more but I did not have the engine installed.
