Default Busted for a JDM tranny

i know 2 ppl that have got their car impounded by the cops because of no vin # on their JDM tranny. the tranny of my friends, was cracked open like they dropped it from 50ft up.

i know ppl say that there is a # somewhere. if you REALLY do, then can you be specific on where? pics would be cool if possible.

is there anyway of getting around this? paperwork? bar sticker? anything? i wouldnt want to spend money on a swap then get busted.

thanks..

i bar'd my car with a jdm b16 cable tranny...althought it did have the serial number on it...

and also my girls jdm gsr also had the serial numbers on the tranny...

my friend talked to a cop and you need a number just so they can identitify it...if its stolen or not...

because if there is not a number there and its jdm they can only assume that its stolen due to the fact that there are not numbers on it..

I reffed my car with the CTR tranny and had no problems at all. I have not seen any of the JDM R trannies with vin plates on em.

USDM trannies do have VIN plates as seen here (VIN is blurred on the picture - this is my old ITR tranny)

I bought a brand new tranny from Acura and it too has no VIN number on it:

...but it does have a serial number:

So would a brand new tranny pose the same problem then, or what? Or does your tranny have absolutely no I.D marks whatsoever.

Pretty scary considering the serial number sticker comes off easily like my old tranny's did.

Hmm.. i dont know if not having a vin on ur tranny will get you in trouble.

My s1 tranny on the b16 has a serial on it also... but i made sure that the company i bought the motor/tranny from had both engine and tranny serial numbers on the invoice so that if anything, i can show the cops the invoice.

I know. It sucks.

Thank God I live in GA where nobody gives a **** what engine/tranny you have.
