Default Front Upper Control Arms

Hey Guys,

I got a K-Mac camber/castor kit to replace the front upper ball joints in my '95 Accord, but found that the ball joints are welded in and not replaceable. I was wondering if I could get some suitable control arms from a wrecking yard. Do any of you know whether earlier or later Accords had replaceable ball joints? Are other Honda upper control arms interchangeable with the Accord's?

I was going to send the kit back, but don't like to be beat.

Can anyone help?

Tks

call K-mac because if they sold you something made for the car then they should work

The ball joint at the top of the knuckle?

How does replacing that give you any adjustability at all?

The K-Mac kit replaces the top ball joint with an adjustable ball joint system, which allows side-to-side adjustments to change camber and back-and-forward adjustments to change castor.

you may have to get a special built control arm for it.
if you want to try you could possibly grind the weld down and pull the ball joint out. But that would be delicate operation. I would still say try calling K-Mac first to get their opinion.

That's an interesting design. What kind of suspension setup are you running (shocks and springs and spring rates if you have them)?

i was told that it was easier just to replace the control arms altogether rather than replacing the ball joint (too much of a pain in the ***)... i got a new set of control arms online for ~$90 a piece...

dunreit - ur probably talking about stock control arms, right? The reason why he wants to change the ball joint is to add adjustability...I haven't heard of companies selling modified or redesigned control arms...

anyway, I agree that you should call kmac to see what's up...i heard kmac is good...

yeah, i'm talking about stock control arms... i had to replace mine b/c my first camber kit pushed out the control arms too far and they hit the body of the car... over time, the ball joint came loose... so i had to replace the control arms and the camber kit... it was a lot of wasted money...

NEVER BUY SPRINT EXTREME CAMBER KITS FOR THE FRONT OF 5G ACCORDS!!!!

take note of this... and especially take note of the fact that I never use all-caps... so understand what I'm trying to say!!!!
