i feel dumb for asking but i guess im to anxious. exactly what licensing/courses do i need to legally drive a bike? do i just go to the dmv and take a test to get a license, or do i have to take the msf course? anything info. pertaning to this subject will be helpful.

 

I could never figure out why people cant take it upon themselves to go to the DMV get the book and take the test.... just like a car.

Thats my rant... go get ure permit from the DMV by taking your written test. Then u can take the test, but youll most likely fail. Thats why you take the MSF course so you can learn the basics and pass. After you pass... its like smoking a fat bong and realizing your stoned... you have a license! (bad analogy???)

Once thats over with go to the dealer and pick up the biggest fastest bike availabe... oh and dont forget insurance... you dont need it just run from the po-po. Also, dont buy any saftey gear, If your strapped for cash make a helmet out of styrofoam and your set.

i can relate to that

 

all you need is a permit to legally ride on the street. Just cant ride passengers, highways, and night time. I still have my permit and violate all except the passenger rule.

Probably a better idea to take the msf course tho.

in michigan you canot ride alone with a permit.
you need someone who is 18 yrs or older with a cycle license.
and he/she must have constant visual supervision of you.

Im pretty posititve thats the rule everywhere... but also violated constantly.

I rode with my permit for close to a year, my freind has been riding with his for almost 2 years. When the cop asks you where your buddy is all u say is u lost him. no big deal, they know ure lying but they cant prove ****.

Anyway, its a much better idea to take an MSF course if you dont have experience, which it doesnt sound like.

georgia too

 

I've been riding with a permit now for 2 months (I've actually been riding since november without a license or permit) and next month I'll have my license.

I already passed MSF I just have to wait the 90 day period before I can cash it in for an M.
