b16 or b18 head on LS block?
New to this forum and this subjected probably was discussed before..I dont know wheither to run a b16 or b18 vtec head on my LS block..I have a 94 b18b LS motor..Most frankenstien motors Ive read of have the second generation b18a LS block..Ive never really heard of people using the third generation b18b LS block...For those who have vtech head with ls block, do you have problems with the motor leaking oil...Ive heard this is common for frankenstien motors...
Those running all motor B16 vtec heads or B18 vtec heads..let me know what are you best 1/4 e.t run
also anyone know a place to get some cheap vtec heads online....peace

You have much to learn, but not to fear. The search function in the upper right hand corner is your friend, don't be afraid to use it.
First off, vtech is a maker of phones, VTEC is Honda's variable valve timing system. Second off, there are no functional differences between the B18A1 block and the B18B1 block. Third off, the reliability of the engine, when completed, will depend heavily upon how well built it is to begin with. For a well built one, consider upgrading the internals. Fourth, the P72 head (B18C1) will offer increased compression over the PR3 head (B16A), flow differences are debatable. Finally, a complete VTEC head shouldn't cost you more than $500, expect most PR3 heads (except the Type R ones) to be cheaper than most P72 heads. You can probably find a few in the Honda-Tech classifieds.
