"type-R" owners help me out?

"type-R" owners help me out?
I'm buying an R wing from someone this weekend, he claims it's OEM, How can I tell?
Does it have "Honda" imprints under the wing? anything would help, bcause I dont' want to buy a non-oem type-R spoiler unless it's brand new and unused.

yes, there is an identifying mark on the bottom of the oem wing. this was pulled off my itr.
it says "Honda UP-G+k<"

No.. I meant the SPOILER? How can I tell if it's OEM or not? writings anywhere?

What he meant by VIN number was to see if the person selling the wing actually owns a type R or not. If he doesn't own it, then it would be fishy as to why he's selling it... I'll check my wing tonight and let you know about any marking.

thanks guys, well.. if I buy the OEM "R" wing and install it, then I won't have a "3rd" brake light that I have in my GS-R wing.
If I go with the COMPTECH R wing with LED, does it look right to have a R wing with LED?

You will have a hole in your trunk if you use an ITR wing installed to your GSR. Anyone?
p.s. I don't think the whole will show w/ Comptech piece as they probably re-use the existing hole to route the 3rd brake light on the "typeR" wing.

Yes, I believe about 1/2" hole will show if you go w/ OEM ITR. Also, having 3rd brake light on a "typeR" spoiler looks pretty silly. In any event, I'll check and let you know about oem markings.

if i were you i would just get the comptech wing. I see alot of Si's around with that wing, and it has the third brake light in it also. Looks great. Also ya might **** people off if you don't have a third brake light. I dun know how, but some people just get pissed off about little things. The comptech wing w/LED light fits perfectly for the GSR, and it uses the existing holes so you don't need to do any drilling. Hope that helped a lil.
