valve clearence and backfiring related
i've got a D16a9 running a p29 ecu
between shifts i get a single Popping sound... sometimes it's a loud Dry bang like a fire cracker.. other times it's like a wet fart kinda pop... happens at slow shift in the 3-5rpm range never at the top or when shifting hard
my valved clearences are all off.. i can hear clicking and tapping noises from under the valve cover quite clearly... u can even hear it from in the car as well
will the incorrect clearences have any negative impact on my performance or fuel economy?
could they be the cause of my popping?
i'm running ram intake, and 4-2-1 headers and straight through exhaust to a free flow muffler.. no silencers, no cat's nothing...or is the popping just a side effect of this?
other quick question is.. the rev limiter is at 8,000 RPM... is it ok for me to venture this high? in races i generally shift at 7,000-7,200 ish...would i have any noticable gain by pushing it right to the edge?
thanx
