Default Tranny Problem??

aight check it out. For the past couple weeks, i put the car into gear when i'm at a stop light. It'll feel like it's in gear, but the car wont go, and when i rev the engine, i can feel my tranny grinding. So i have to put it back into neutral or press harder on the stick to get it in gear. This happens once in awhile. Another thing that i noticed is that last night i was messing around with an S2000. I put it into first gear and gun'd the car. As i hit 3000 rpm, the engine just started revving all the way to 7000 rpm(didn't feel like i was going any faster, felt like the clutch popped out). I was like... "wtf.." then shifted right away into 2nd gear and my car started spinning tires. Another thing i noticed is that when i downshift to 2nd gear at like 20-25 mph, it has a very slight grind. I think i hear it, or i can feel it grind when i downshift. Not sure, but i'm pretty sure that i can feel it grinding very slightly. So what you guys think may be wrong? think my tranny is bad? i have an Si tranny with a new clutch and i just recently had an engine swap.

When was the last time you replaced your clutch? Sounds like a clutch problem.

Who replaced it? It sounds like the symptoms when a clutch is going out. As for the griding, it sounds like your syncros might be going out.

a friend of mine that did my swap. maybe i'll bring it back to him and ask him why all this is happening. I doubt he put it in wrong cuz he's done a lot of clutch/tranny installations. if the clutch is going bad already, i have a lifetime warranty so hopefully i can get another one. As for tranny grinding...should the second gear grind when u downshift at like 2,000-2,500 rpm?

Nah his clutch is fine.

He spun his tires shifting second.

IMO buddy, your shifter forks are shot. Would explain why you have a hard time shifting it (that grind is basically the tranny beeing partly in gear...not all the way in...I call it a phantom shift) When it went to 7k, I have the impression the tranny might have popped out of gear. (Confirming the shifting fork problem)

Check your fluid level in the tranny...could explain a couple of things. The tranny shouldnt grind.

If you're full, I'd start looking for a spare tranny....or rebuild yours

when i hit 3k , the engine just revved all the way up to like 7k. I think if it did pop out, it popped out at 3k. are shifter forks easy to replace/cost expensive?

Never done it. I've just heard of them beeing responsible for the car popping out of gear and not shifting properly. Dont take my word for it tho. I never looked into it. Just wanted to metnion it cause its definately not your clutch.

To change them you'll need to crack the tranny open, no clue how much work is involved in changeing em. Your 2nd gear grinding will probably require a new syncrho, which is not fun to replace. So you might just want to try and find another tranny...it will be cheaper.

It COULD also be that your shift linkage isnt adjusted properly...are you using the stock tranny? It could be taht the arm doesnt move far enough forward to shift the tranny completely.

Check your oil level tho.
