Default DC5 Type-S motor VS DC5 Type-R? How different are they?

Im not too familiar with the k20 engines...but how different are they interms of specs and numbers on the track.

Both are 200hp right? In that case, whats so special with the 200hp of the Type R?

Hope to hear from the k20 enthusiasts. thanks!

i think you have your r's mixed up.the dc5 comes with a 220hp k20 and the ep3 r is the same as the rsx-s.

The Euro model CTR is 200hp, the JDM model is 215ps and the ITR is 220ps which is close to like 212 and 217hp. Internal differences between the R and S, the cams duration is longer on the R, the lift is the same between them, the compression is 11:1 on the S and 11.5:1 on the R. Possibly some other minor differences, but I can't say for sure.

Like it was previously stated, the cams are different, different pistons, different intake manifold, obviously different ecu tuning, different exhaust manifold (4-2-1 instead of 4-1), different exhaust. These differences are pretty much eliminated once you i/h/e/hondata on the K20A2, if you do cams on both motors with the other boltons it has showed that the K20A2 actually responds better to them than the K20A.

So the the difference engine wise isn't significant?

Whats the 1/4mile time of a DC5-R, anyway? Been searching on the net, and its not much.

Thanks for the replies. Learn something new everyday.

Also, not the engine but the transaxle:
Lighter flywheel
Not sure if clutch is different
Shorter final drive

looks like yall covered most of the major stuff.

There's alot of stuff you realize is diff when doing the swap. The Type R is missing the VTEC oil pressure safety switch, that had to be swaped over so that I could use my USDM wireing harness. Also the part that adds aditional air to the injectors is slightly diff on the Type R, it doesn't draw air from the intake.

and the type R is just soooooooooooooooo much funner to drive!!!!! damn well worth it in my book.
