Since its a convertible its not going to be as fast as the coupe. I actually built a 95 cobra coupe up for a customer that ran 13s (he was on a budget and the best he was running was 14.8) but i think there is more stuff done to the engine in 96. The 95 was the last year of 5.0s so im guessing it has a 4.6 dohc and that is a sick *** engine. the cobra probably runs between 14.5 - 13.5 im guessing on street tires. I'm just guessing though. I've seen magazines articles were people couldnt drive and were running 14.9s all day. Depends on driver. If ur not worried about blowning engine up get some nitrious like a zexs kit and just get it to highest flow rate and if you blow engine up go to junk yard and get another d16a6. Probably cheaper than buying a b series unless you get the killer deal.

unless you have a lot of cash to dedicate to this, give up on trying to beat him at stoplight grand prix. Even if you did eventually beat his stock setup, he can just start modifying.
Spend $600-$800 on your suspension and make sure you get his *** out to the local autox regularly enough to keep his ego in check.

Defang the cobra....There useless after this (also prior to this). What I would do is set aside money to start building up a new motor. Heck you probablly own your car where he is making a car payments. If possable find out what his payments are and save about half of what he pays every time for your car. Be prepared though if you ever beat him the whinning will start. All dumestic owners do this once beaten.

that is the most ignorant statement ever, just because they are weaker then Bs doesn't mean they don't have potential, hell did Bisi his 9s or was it 10s with the D15

I agree man with a turboed D you should be able to take him. If you are serious about making your car faster then get aftermaket pistons and rods then turbo. That will cure the weekness then you can smoke him any day.

number one most common awnser when defending d series motor.

OK B series with turbo youll beat him. Then youll have to worry about the "real fast" domestics then the LS1's and built Lt1's. Old skool Cobras were kinda lame for the price when new.

Wow, where's the d-series love. B-series = Too much $$ to bother, put the money that'd be spent on going b-series and you'll get over 200whp with a boosted d, reliably!
Work on the head, maybe bottom end, get the compression between 10:1 and 11:1 and then get a nice low psi boost setup, tuned of course or else your asking for trouble, but atleast while you're waiting to boost you'll have a nice n/a monster that'l eat a b-series and give your bro a run for his money... Maybe not a big W but when he sees you right beside him he'll be scared.
You could always go to the FI classifieds, get a nice used zex kit for around $200-400 and run a 55 shot pretty reliably, that'l give you a good kick to start with for not too much money, just put an extra $300 aside for a new d16 at the same time for when you blow it.

Is that a D-series valve cover you have in your avatar? Indeed it is...
Lets see your stock b-series with a price tag of around $2000 after install up against my D-series that has under $1000 worth of work on it... D-series engines are great imo. I don't have any experience with the b-series though so I'm not gunna bash em or really say that D is much better than B... It's just my experience from other's experiences that D's are cheaper to work with and build. Gunna dyno my car in April so I'll post results then. specs in sig. Cost me $500 for the built head, $200 for the engine (70k miles on it, rod went in my 195k a6) $100 for the cai, $100 for the header. So $900 plus misc fluids etc, $1000.
Still able to continue on with n/a or go boost, left my options open with this. Compression is higher than stock, but not too wild, so plenty good for boost if I want.
Stay d-series, be different!

well forget spending money to beat him going strait just make sure u can get him in the twisties no point in spendiing alot of money just to prove u can go faster strait
Some dude here on the FI board had a dyno doing 250whp on stock internals with hondata. So you certanlly can do it if you have some kind of engine management.

You mister are the worst dumb *** of the week, I have to say week cause we see a lot of fluffy gay ricer style bitch in this forum. For your information little dickwipe, a ZC is commonly sharing majority of it's part's with a D serie engine.
D serie engine is one of the best alternative on creating High HP engine at low cost.
to be back on your comment about the Cobra, just get some Ls rod's remachined in there, put a greddy kit on this thing with 14 pound of boost = see ya Cobra.
D = dumb engine!!! wtf are you smoking little **** sucker ?
Kranked.
